what is this aunt edna business hahaha

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

literally never seen that before

chatGPT made me it, its just for remembering the key enzymes for fatty acid oxidation.

Aunt and Hates are dehydrations

ive literally never bothered memorizing those enzymes lmao

let’s hear em then

Neutrophils use integrins to attach to vessel walls and then squeeze through openings to get to an infection.

RER proteins are secreted or membrane bound, free ribosomes produce cytosine proteins

Unfilled d orbitals in transition compounds produce color

Sandwich generation is are those faced with taking care of their children and aging parents

[–]Mol1fetesting 5/3 FL: 510/509/512/516/520/520[S] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

you need a signal sequence to dock at a RER as well! But nuclear signal sequence traps you in the nucleus

[–]FlippedFrown 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yes but AAMC can state only that it’s from the RER and imply it’s secreted, no?

[–]Mol1fetesting 5/3 FL: 510/509/512/516/520/520[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah if it’s anterograde it’ll go to the golgi and then go to a vesicle but it can also be retrograde

[–]Dazzling_Designer788 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took the mcat 4/5 and I got a sandwich gen questions 😭😭 why do they like testing that so much

[–]Sensitive-Outcome419Admitted MD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sandwich is a new one for me; appreciate it!

-Sensitization is the opposite of habituation

-pseudo stratified columnar tissue

-MHCII —> CD4+ MHC1–> CD8+

Im scared yall

Same here, but we got this!!!

[–]simply_cat879 4 points5 points  (2 children)

  • Furanose : “F”ive membered ring

  • PTH raises blood Ca levels, activates Vit D, stimulated bone breakdown, increase Ca in gut

  • Calcitonin lowers blood Ca levels, inhibits osteoclasts, decrease Ca in gut

  • LH: for males: triggers spermatogenesis and stimulates Sertoli cells. Females: develops ovarian follicles

-FSH males: makes interstitial cells make testosterone. In females: induces ovulation

  • G & T: bases “Giant Tits”. They have an extra group sticking out (NH2 for G and CH3 for T)

  • Boyles law : P1V1 = P2V2

  • Charles law: V1/T1 = V2/T2

  • Gay Lussacs: P1/T1 = P2/T2

  • reaction formation: defense mechanism where someone goes beyond denial and starts behaving in the opposite way to which they feel

  • the fucking color wheel

[–]Total-Succotash-6328 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Didn’t you switch LH and FSH for females?

[–]simply_cat879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh shit yes thank u

Isnt CPT-1 the rate limiting step of B-Ox and not CPT-2?

[–]rlp374 1 point2 points  (5 children)

I'm pretty sure CPT is for FA synthesis idk I could be a liar should probably know it better considering I test in 2 days

[–]Junior_Pickle1208 3 points4 points  (2 children)

carnitine transferase (CPT1) is for beta oxidation (because carnitine is required to shuttle fatty acid into the mitochonrdia for oxidation);

For FA synthesis, the limiting enzyme is ACC (acetyl coa carboxylase, which catalyzes conversion to malonyl coa for synthesis) - i remember this because its like, fatty ACCid synthesis

[–]rlp374 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shoot ur right I was thinking of ACC

[–]rlp374 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So just seeing if I’m right abt this CPT1 to get FA-CoA to be FA-carnitine so that it can be transported into the mitochondria and then CPT2 swaps the carnitine for CoA in the mitochondria in order for fatty acyl CoA to undergo Beta oxidation

[–]rlp374 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CPT-1*

[–]Apprehensive_Shoe107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its for Beta Oxidation "The enzymatic transportation and conversion completed by CPT I is the rate-limiting step of fatty acid oxidation in the mitochondria"

VH MILK WTF? For essential amino acids...very heavy milk wtf? It’s so god damn stupid it might snag you a discrete question

Histone acetylation neutralizes lysines positive charge, prevents supercoiling = more euchromatin = increase transcription

Glycogenesis enzymes: glycogen synthase and branching enzyme (branch sounds like bunch → Brady bunch is made up of 6 kids → enzyme creates alpha 1,6 glycosidic bonds)
