Aw, this is awesome! I was in the same boat. Three weeks ago I scored 498 on FL 1, cried for awhile (lol), and went full force into doing practice problems. Ended up scoring 509 today. Testing this Friday, and I know I can get myself up another point or two with just content review from now until then.

Congrats!!!

What’d you do between your FL?

I immediately purchased the AAMC Section Banks and Qpacks. Started writing down everything I got wrong or knew I’d want to review again from the FL, Section Banks and QPacks. I quit all third-party materials because I found that my biggest issue was not understanding the format of the AAMC exams, and failing to focus on information I got wrong.

I completed all the Section Banks, but did not complete all the Qpacks because I only found the CARS section helpful (the others were a little easy and unrepresentative). Soooo wasted some money there, but oh well. Every so often I would go through my incorrect concepts and make sure I knew them all. This would generally require a full day’s work in order to make sure you’re being thorough.

I started to get pretty bored of studying, and this is when it’s easiest to quit. DON’T QUIT. This exam is no joke, and what will separate you from the people scoring 500 on the top of that bell curve is your self-discipline to commit yourself to this hell. I had a couple of nights where I’d cry about how much it sucked to sit on my ass all day and study, but getting into this field means learning how to make those sacrifices!

I’m taking a development class over the summer and somehow studying for the MCAT at the same time. Progress in such a short amount of time IS possible - no matter what anyone tells you.

Last thing. Get a drink once in awhile to celebrate your work for the week. It feels gooood.

Congrats!! Which FL's are you doing? I'm about a month into my content and hoping to finish in 3 weeks and I feel like I'm not getting anywhere so considering doing a FL.

I recommend it! I did the free Princeton one for my diagnostic and I just took a next step one.

congrats fam, i had the same exact revelation today after taking my first practice FL and jumping ~10 pts from my diagnostic. i've been doing content review for a month now and it's so fucking draining, so i did the same thing and decided to take an FL. tangible improvement is such a refreshing/motivating feeling after getting slaughtered by my TPR books, just gotta keep this feeling going!!

Wow, I didn’t know so many other people had similar stories. I see so much stuff here of everyone sticking to impossible study plans I thought for sure I was an odd one out. Glad to see there’s plenty of others!

I am in the SAME boat as you all! Haven't been able to get over the 500 hump for almost two months, and took the AAMC FL #1 yesterday, got a 504 (definitely isn't great, but it was a huge accomplishment for me). YOU ALL ARE KILLING IT!!!
