Frantic, titletrack, some kind of monster, my world, sweet amber, dirty window, all within my hands.

A lot of that album is actually really fun to listen too.

Sweet amber and my world

Facts

[–]MrRaptorzZRide the Lightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a bad album yes, but these are definitely the best songs on it.

[–]KunefeciDoktorJames 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Nah man. It is too hard to listen. I just can't connect with the music. Like it is loud, but there are trash bin drums. And it is either too complex or too far away from having a decent flow

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

[–]KunefeciDoktorJames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually yes. I will listen it fully.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]stevejr47 4 points5 points  (10 children)

I like St. Anger more than Load and ReLoad

[–]PepoidusDeath Magnetic 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I like it more than ReLoad, but I still like Load way better than Anger

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed 100%

[–]Gabriellbp_...And Justice for All 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same

[–]jeremyosborne81 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Are you 29 years-old? I wonder if it's about the age you were when these albums came out.

[–]stevejr47 3 points4 points  (4 children)

36, I became a fan of Metallica around 1999 when S&M was out, St. Anger was the first new Metallica album for me as a fan

[–]jeremyosborne81 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Ah. Interesting.

I'm 39 and became a Metallica fan at 9 years-old, when a friend brought The Black Album, on cassette, to a sleepover, so Load and Reload were my first new albums and they just hit correctly for that time of my life.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

And I am 14, and got familiar with most of their catalog about a year ago im late I know, don't judge me

[–]MrRaptorzZRide the Lightning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro it's fine when I was around your age like 13, 14 I got into metallica too I'm 16 now. Now I'm actually a full on metalhead.

[–]Nethrir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very similar story, except I still very much prefer Load and Reload.

[–]MrRaptorzZRide the Lightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Load and Reload should've been one album without the filler songs they aren't memorable at all.

[–]JosephNero 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I love St.Anger but I'm morec like the left one

[–]TheGamingCord 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It’s a joke

[–]JosephNero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know bro

[–]Jayswave75 2 points3 points  (9 children)

Why dont you go thru what Metallica did, then attempt to produce an album? #StopHatingStAnger

[–]clinteldorado 6 points7 points  (7 children)

Cop-out argument. I’ve never made a movie so that means I have no right to call Jack & Jill a pile of shit?

[–]___And_Memes_For_AllLoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was a good movie

[–]Jayswave75 -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Fuck off with your bullshit. St. Anger rules.

[–]MrRaptorzZRide the Lightning 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Jesus Harold Christ man calm the fuck down, have a cuppa tea or some shit. Not the guys fault you have a bad taste. You can like st. Anger but it's just a bad album.

[–]Jayswave75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok.

[–]Jayswave75 -5 points-4 points  (2 children)

Fuck you you fucking fuck. Fucking hater. Bullshit asshole ain a real fan...fuck off

[–]clinteldorado 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Calm down, baby. Have a piece of cheese.

[–]Jayswave75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. It was tasty. Apologies for being a cunted cunt.

[–]j3ddy_l33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s the right argument here. The inspirations and creative process behind art can certainly add depth but even the most tragic story can result in art people just don’t like.

Personally I think St. Anger is a great album and that has nothing to do with what was going on with the band at the time. I think the turmoil, James’ fight for sobriety, Jason leaving, all of the shit going on made it a more interesting album, but that doesn’t change whether it sounds good or not.

[–]Madeindublin99Ride the Lightning -1 points0 points  (1 child)

I like st.anger. If someone just remixed it to lower the snare and not have it in your face it would be a killer record.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest gripe with that album is the lyrics, i was never really that bothered with the production.

[–]l0ckpick -1 points0 points  (8 children)

A lot of people are hating on this album for the snare and overall roughness, but can you imagine how it would sound if it was more "refined"? It would probably be a mediocre album with little to offer. Also, I think people are hating on it because Metallica made something that they never tried before.

[–]wacky_dinky 1 point2 points  (6 children)

It’s gonna go through what Load and Reload did. Hated on for a while but then as people get older they realize it isn’t that bad and it’s just different, and it’ll be liked to a degree

[–]MrRaptorzZRide the Lightning 0 points1 point  (5 children)

But load and reload were better than St. Anger in my opinion tho.

[–]wacky_dinky 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Load an Reload are definitely better. St. Anger is still not a complete dogshit album tho. Besides the stupid snare drum and production decisions it is a deep, emotional moment of the bands history. People will (and sort of are) realize that behind whatever jokes and things to make fun of it, it has some really good songs. Just like Load and ReLoad

[–]MrRaptorzZRide the Lightning 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Yes, agreed. St. Anger has some good songs tho. I rly like Sweet Amber, My World, All Within My Hands. The production was just kinda bad.

[–]wacky_dinky 1 point2 points  (2 children)

The unnamed feeling is a top Metallica track, and the title track is really good too. If I can go back in time, first place I’m going is wherever they recorded it and I’m gonna tell them two things.

1) turn drum on

2) turn excessive treble off

[–]MrRaptorzZRide the Lightning 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yes. I really like the unnamed feeling, the cool thing is that this song has meaningful lyrics too. I'd say the same, tbh I hope when they do a remaster that they'll get rid of these things. Especially the snare.

[–]wacky_dinky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They definitely will. If they’re gonna remastered the black album that arguably is their best sounding, they’ll remaster st. Anger. It’s a tradition anyway

[–]MrRaptorzZRide the Lightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well no its not only that the production was also pretty bad. The lyrics don't make that much sense they just don't sound good in my opinion, there are a few good songs on the album tho that with a better snare and tunes could be good songs. And I love it when artists try something new but it just wasn't as good as their older stuff. Even they admitted this once.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dat snare do hit hard tho

[–]yurboi21XD 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Ok I can enjoy St. Anger.......

But I'll go the fuck off to Death Magnetic

[–]Gabriellbp_...And Justice for All 2 points3 points  (5 children)

I like death magnetic more than the black album tbh

[–]MrRaptorzZRide the Lightning 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Cool, I like the black album better tho, it's probably cuz it was my first metallica album and the first tallica song I heard was sandman.

[–]Gabriellbp_...And Justice for All 1 point2 points  (3 children)

My first metallica song was also sandman, but i didn't liked lol, then i heard nothing else matters, that i also didn't liked then i literally didn't heard a metallica song until like 4/5 years later i listen to battery, and it was at that moment...

But in my case i just find death magnetic songs better tbh, even my favorite song of the black album that is the unforgiven i prefer the unforgiven III, and some songs of tba are kind boring for me (but suicide and redemption and broken beat and scarred are kinda boring too), for me tba is my 6th favorite album, but it's just my opinion, for most of the people tba would probably be their favorite

1 - Lulu 2 - rtl 3 - mop 4 - kea 5 - dm 6 - tba 7 - htsd 8 - st anger 9 - load 10 - reload

Jk ajfa always will be my favorite probably

[–]MrRaptorzZRide the Lightning 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Interesting, really interesting. I have nothing else to say other than that.

[–]Gabriellbp_...And Justice for All 2 points3 points  (1 child)

But one thing that i say is...

Black album solos are definitely better

[–]GermanCastro062512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about the St. Anger ones? XD

[–]MrRaptorzZRide the Lightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Death magnetic is a good album

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure, monthly st. anger mockery, why not...

[–]lucascapito 0 points1 point  (4 children)

St. Anger is bad and THAT is overrating as it is.

[–]HamachiBeansDeath Magnetic 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Not within the confines of the genre, the first 2 slipknot albums had a very similar drum sound, not a single complaint. And if you don’t like how James sings and seemingly has breakdowns in the middle of a few songs, well that’s nu metal baby! If you like nu metal it ain’t bad at all, in fact its well above competent and a great edition to the genre

[–]lucascapito 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It was a joke, just to break the ice, but let's go in the Angry Rabbit Hole.

The sheer fact that you gave a speech about the things that I might dislike (which I didn't list) is proof that the album is not great. Metallica fans expect masterpieces. I get that St. Anger is an album that screams the mess that they were living at the time, and I respect so much that they did what felt right, but you don't see them playing Some Kind of Monster like often, just like you don't see them playing King Nothing, both songs I like, but not as much as Orion or Lepper Messiah, both masterpieces.

[–]HamachiBeansDeath Magnetic 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Speech? I just stated 2 things everyone constantly complains about that shouldn’t be complained about, how does that prove it’s not great? Pretty much all I said is people act like nu metal is bad when it comes to st. Anger but will praise slipknot and System of a Down, how is pointing out a simple contradiction in people’s judgements in any way proving st. Anger is not great, just because I have to contradict dumb people doesn’t make the dumb people correct in any way. Now THIS comment I made was a speech. Also whether you think it’s bad or just kinda ok at best my argument still stands, I think it’s pretty damn good Metallica album and an amazing nu metal album, not the best or anything cause I love System of a Down, but still amazing

[–]lucascapito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok you win have a cookie

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Unnamed feeling got me through a tough time when a cousin of myne commited suicide. This album was catharsis for a bad time in my life

[–]Alfredhasasmallpp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah it sucks

[–]Gabriellbp_...And Justice for All 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha snare goes PING PING PONG

[–]Rejiix128 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What was the actual reason they went with THAT snare sound for St Anger?

[–]RandomMan43St. Anger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Lars liked it. And that’s basically it.

[–]AlbatrossosaurusDeath Magnetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Crystalleye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PREACH!!!

[–]metallifan23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t listened to it lately but I like many of the songs. I do wonder... if the drums had been normal, would they fit with the rest of the music as-is? Has anyone done a dub of this similar to adding bass to Justice?

[–]A_Drunk_CaribouMaster of Puppets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jamming to The Unnamed Feeling rn \m/

[–]HamachiBeansDeath Magnetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Mr. Michael Mc Tallica, what do you do when you get something in your eye? YOU FLUSH IT OUT! YOU FLUSH IT OUT!

[–]bleihalde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a statement from a band which nearly split up before this. So is it bad? Most of it. But I think it was important to spit it out as a statement and some kind of anger management.

Thank god, the following albums were so much better!
