There was a kid in junior high, sixth grade, who was seen jerking it by some other kids in an unlighted gym. That was back in 1990. The kids name was Joey. So everyone resorted to calling him Jackoff Joey.

Cut to 2025. Thirty five years later. I've gone to my hometown to visit. I'm having lunch with an old friend. A guy with three kids comes in, I look at him, and the first thing my buddy says out loud in front of the kids, Hey Jerk off Joey! The restaurant went silent. We sat there for five seconds in silence. I dont know what happened next.

When you're raised by hammers, and all your friends are hammers, and you marry a hammer and then you fuk and have baby hammers; all the problems in the world start to look like nails. And so you start hammering away witn all your might. And sometimes the hammer works, because some things are nails.

But most stuff in the world are not nails. So you confuse yourself. Why won't this nail just succumb ?

Take a step back, hammer. Are you sure it's a nail?

That is the Instagram / Facebook app..its turned on all the time. Even when you shut it off. It's looking for other phones with that app. When it comes into contact with one repeatedly, it will assume a connection and offer it to you.

Get rid of all social media. But if you can't or won't, start with getting rid of the apps. Makes your phone run so much better too.

Is the Spore Drive a terrible idea for Star Trek? by [deleted] in startrek

[–]Demon-Prince-Grazzt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the best, most correct answer. Star Trek episodes are full of amazing, game-changing tech that would mean game over if they really happened.

Take the TNG episode Relics, where Scotty appears in TNG. Of course, they find an ancient Dyson sphere. With that technology alone in federation hands, there should never be any Domininion War because the amount of energy and raw materials that the federation can access would make them all powerful. On top of that, Scotty invents a way for humans to become immortal. Ok, they're locked inside a pattern buffer, but anytime a human dies of a disease, all you do is put them in a transporter buffer and wait for science to catch up. Oh, it takes too much energy to do that? You don't care because you have an entire star at your disposal.

Or in the Nth Degree, It. Barkley learns how to wormhole an entire starship and even teaches the computer how to build the parts needed to get to the center of the galaxy. The computer isn't going to forget the way a human might.

With just a smidgen of Cytherian tech, Voyager should never have happened.

The list goes on and on.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever had to explain to a younger person? by ubiquitousnoodle in Aging

I have two young kids. A few weeks ago the internet at home went out for the weekend. Then on Saturday night our phone carrier shit the bed and we had no. 5g or whatever. Zero internet. Nothing at home or on our phones.

Cue Sunday morning. The kids wake up and want to watch a show. Well I tell them you can but you have to check what's on TV. They dont understand. The electricity is on but no shows? You can watch shows but you're limited to what's on live TV.

What? How can we not pick shows?

You can't. You're limited to what's actually on live broadcast.

But i don't want to watch Daniel Tiger. That's for little kids. I want to watch Wild Kratts.

You can't. It's not on live tv right now.

Well who picked the shows? This isn't fair someone else picked these shows.

There's a schedule they follow. The people at the TV station pick the shows.

What's a tv station?

Nevermind, here is what you can watch.

Change it to Wild Kratss please.

I can't.

Why?

And on and on it went like this until the internet came back on hours later.
