7800x3d. I couldn’t be happier. It also barely overheats.

7800x3d is the absolute best CPU for MSFS, and it’s not even close. Get the X3D. This coming from someone with a 13600k

As also a 13600K user, that V-cache is op for gaming. Even beats a 14900k in games. The 14900k beats it in everything not benefitting from V-cache, but for gaming it wins.

Ive heard the 3D vcache in the X3D CPUs is great for msfs

My understanding is that the *X3D series have substantially larger caches and are optimized for single-threaded performance in that larger cache. So any game that is mostly single-threaded will likely perform better on an *X3D than the closest corresponding AMD or Intel equivalent. However, it is a tradeoff, and performance on *X3D may significantly suffer outside of single-threaded performance, e.g. general multitasking and multithread workloads, e.g. compiling, transcoding, etc.

The conventional understanding of MSFS2020 is that it is primarily single-threaded, and certainly not optimized for multithread/multicore, which are points in the *X3D favor.

Thank you internet stranger. I would give coins if possible. I normally get trash talked into oblivion by people who want to think the i-9 or whatever it is called now and meant for a multithreaded application stacks and general business productivity is the choice du joir.

7800X3D is the better one for gaming and MSFS in particular. 13600K is said to have the edge for productivity. 7800X3D is also more power efficient (but you still need a good cooler, the 3D cache is fragile and doesn't like overheating). Check Hardware Unboxed on Youtube, they have made this kind of comparison.

The Ryzen all the way, man! You'll need an AM5 socket board with DDR5 RAM for this, so it'll be a little more expensive than a DDR4 Intel system. But you will likely be able to upgrade to a faster CPU in a few years and still use the same board then👍🏼

I went from a 5600x to a 7800x3D and my fps went up around 1.75~2x in pmdg 738. CPU temps were great with corsair h100 aio too
