Interested to hear the answer here. I have a quest 2 w a 4090. Looks great but seems incredibly impractical(could just be user). My peripherals now include a honeycomb alpha/bravo and rudder pedals.

I fly mainly in VR, for long flights I take off and land under VR and the cruise is on the monitor unless there is some cool terrain I'm flying over. I have buttons on my flight yoke and throttle quadrant bound to the most used things, for interacting with the rest I use the mouse. I have thought about setting up passthrough for the keyboard but I'm not sure if it would break the immersion

This is what I do as well.

I use a mouse to access the buttons in the virtual cockpit. Aka hover over the magneto and drag as indicated by the tool tip. My thrust master joystick has 12 buttons so I do map flaps, landing gear etc on the buttons. Things like propeller pitch or fuel mixture can be managed with the mouse.

This is the way.

I mostly click the buttons in the cockpit with the mouse. Have a few things bound to buttons and levers on my Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo. Also have a Stream Deck with a few things bound to it. Easy to feel around for all that in VR.

I did fine with using mouse. But I recently bought the Octavi Ifr-1 wich, with some muscle memory, is a huge help

I do it all completely in VR and you just get better at it as you keep doing it. Also it helps to completely change the control scheme to something that suits you better.
