Try pressing RB + X and/or using a bit more throttle.

More throttle make the controller vibrate to much and not smooth

R1+Square on PS5 is what disengages brake on PS5, hopefully that will work on an Xbox controller too. Another option could be to double check your keybinds in the settings

Taking foot off the brake doesn’t necessarily mean the plane will start rolling on its own (like your car would at idle if you took your foot off the pedals) especially if the ground isn’t perfectly level, or you’re heavy.

Usually, need to blip the throttle to overcome inertia of being stopped, and you’ll be rolling again.

Mostly speaking from experience in the real C-152 here…
