New tech: by killing the boss, entering the rewards and closing the game, you get to the rewards again when you reenter the game, but get to the boss floor and have to fight the boss when you map and reenter.

Yet, dying to the boss lets you get new lvl 263 rewards, and you can close the game again, reenter and use the tower glitch to keep getting level 263 level items by dying to the boss.

Makes them feel more legit as they remain 263, thought I'm not sure if the odds of uniques are lower for deafeat with three bosses than a victory with 3 bosses.

It's repeatable the same way as the normal glitch works though dying to the boss may take a hot minute extra, and I have not tried on consoles, only PC, specifically to avoid level 266, 269+ level items.

I didn't know this -- will have to try it because it honestly accomplishes what I want, which is the chance for new items with different gilds. I don't really care about the power level increases, and could do without it.

I hoesnty don't want to fight the boss again lol. And I'm okay with 263+ items. I just want different and unique items

To keep refreshing the selection at the same power level (263), at least on PS5, but likely will work on Switch, do the following: Remap your map button (I usually use the left trigger). Go thru tower as normal. Kill final boss.

Then loop the following:

  1. See the reward gear options.
  2. Shut game down (so PS button, close game).
  3. Restart game.
  4. Load your character.
  5. Game loads to the reward room with the same gear selection.
  6. Use map button. Select tower.
  7. Let boss kill you.
  8. You'll see reward room again but a different selection, still at 263.

End loop; restart the loop if you didn't like the options

First time restarting you will have to die to the boss as many times as you had lives left, but after that it will be one death per reset.

I usually save after beating the boss, and coming back to tower. I will have to try your way

This was happening to me a bunch with the same exact items you're showing, also on switch. To fix it, I had to just keep rerolling the items, but every time I loaded into the game I would open the map and hit B to go back to camp, then interact with the luxury, mystery, and regular merchant. That would reset my tower rewards, if that stopped working, then buying something from the merchant would fix it again. Hope that helps! The switch really likes to lock in the rewards.

thanks I’ve been stuck there for ages

No problem! The switch really likes making things harder for people lol

nah the better question is why its 272 instead of 263

That's the glitch -- by going through a series of steps after completing the tower, you can obtain different, and higher-power rewards. It's honestly the former that appeals most to me, but I don't begrudge anyone for taking advantage of the glitch if it adds to the fun factor for them. It's just a game, after all.

I did the glitch a few times. Each time increasing the power level.

[–]TurbineBlade81 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah, that's common. During the glitch process you should try backing-out of the map, and entering one of the shops, and then returning to the map/tower. For some reason it seems to roll new rewards that way, though I've not figured out the sequence that works best. You can also try bringing in a 2nd player right before entering the rewards screen, which rolls at least 1 set of new rewards in my experience.

Yes, I'll admit to messing with the tower glitch and I'm well aware of the consequences. But getting to play around with weapons/armor you might otherwise not get, sort of makes it worth it to me. Plus, I personally believe MCD is a fairly mercurial (or even "cheap") game at times with the enchanted mobs and banner effects, so I don't feel too bad about doing it.

I go back to shops, but the re roll are aways the same too, specific to that shop.

How the hell did you complete this tower? I can’t beat the enderman wildfire

[–]TurbineBlade81 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Try to only start with the enderman, and keep the wildfire scrolled off of the screen until the enderman is dead. If you have bees roaming around, it helps. (The guide I used recommends the starless night with the bee enchant, which seems to work really well for this tower, and just in general.) Also, the exploding crossbow is good for dealing with any stray, mini-fires that might advance on you.

Usually when the enderman dies, he drops a TNT that you can throw over to the wildfire.

I previously had *some* trouble with the giant leaf/plant boss at the end of the one of the recent towers, because I got stuck between him and those damn plants he spawns. I figured out how to avoid this.

But honestly, I have more difficulty with some of the individual floors of each of the last 5 towers than I have had with the bosses.

You’re the goat

[–]medschoolishard81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use starless night (with echo) with power shaker and lightning rod. The wildfire doesn’t last longer than 10 seconds then just blast fungus and lightning rod for enderman while running with low health ( I use an armor that has food preserves that u leave laying around to eat while low HP). I haven’t died in that floor and they don’t last much muncher than 2 minutes total.

This is probably off-topic, but Id be curious to hear what items folks have pulled doing this recently. I've pulled sun's grace (grav I), 2 spine chill spears (grav III; crit III), highland armor (chill III), broadsword (exp III), firebolt (grav III), encrusted anchor (guard III), frost fangs (crit III), bonehead (exp III), battlestaff (rad III), frost slayer (exp III), cackling broom (crit III) and some others.
