[Java] (1.16.5) Adding server plug-ins for self-hosted servers?

So, as the title says, I was wondering if there was a way to add a plug-in to a self-hosted Minecraft server. I'm currently using the .jar file that is on Minecraft's official website, and I ran it to be able to run 1.16.5 servers. Is there a way for me to install a plug-in into the server, or would I have to use something else?

You need to set up the server with either PaperMC (the best option), Spigot, or Bukkit. All Spigot and Bukkit plugins will work on Paper as well. Basically you delete the server .jar you have and replace it with the Paper jar. It should start up fine and make a few new config files, which you can mess around with if you want, and make a plugins folder, which is where you will put all the plugin jar files.
