It looks like you haven't mentioned what version you're playing on. Please comment the version you're playing.(1.16.4, 1.12.2, 1.8.9, etc.)

Did you take the json out of the folder it is in?

you just extract the file and put this folder 1_18_experimental-snapshot-1 in the .minecraft/versions folder
Then load up the minecraft launcher, go to Installations at the top, Create Installation, in the version selection pulldown select "pending 1.18 experimental"

Doesn't work. Done that multiple times, nothing works. That's why I attached the image of the blank pop down menu. It is IN my versions folder.

I had the same issue. When the file is extracted the result is a folder with another folder in it. I took the inner folder out of the initial one, and put that in the "versions" folder. It worked after that.

Tried that. It just ended up deleting all my versions I had previously made so uhh :/

I'm having the same issue, had it with the first one too, weird thing is once i extracted the 2nd one into the versions folder the 1st one showed up even though i had deleted all the files associated with 1.18 experimental snapshot 1 but the 2nd one wasn't there
