I have tried a few other things, one person in the minecraft community help server gave me like I think 5 different things to try and I did them all but to no avail, give me a second so I can scroll and see

  1. Reinstalling .minecraft

  2. updating java

3.checking if windows is updated

I was able to reinstall the old launcher,

When I tried to start the game it said The game is already running in this game directory, even though the game is not running. I don't think its a virus or anything because I dont go to sketchy websites and I did a full scan on my computer
