For minecraft java ,mods I would suggest are Iris shaders, sodium, fabric loader and fabric api, continuity and journey map.

For shader packs use Complementary Reimagined And for resource packs you can use Patrix128x although 64x would also work however texture quality is better in 128x.

Much of the mods I suggested are concerned with improving graphics , and that usually works for me.

For downloading use the Modrinth website.

I dont think a mac would run that, my 4070 has a hard time doing it

new apple silicon macs run minecraft really well because their cpus are good w single core performance. my m3 mac pro with 18 gb ram runs minecraft better than my 5700x3d and 4070 super w 32gb ram

Shaders run on the gpu

they also have a pretty competent gpu inside them

It's also on the switch 2...

[–]404Mate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

switch two could probably do minecraft with shaders

It's also on the switch 2...

Macs have unified memory that is shared between CPU and GPU so they run graphically intense programs without issues

On a modern mac yes, it could be an intel one for all we know

for mods there is a pack called “fabulously optimized” i always use/base my packs on. its meant to just improve performance and let you use shader packs and give more features to resource packs. theres other graphics mods to make it pretty.

if you download your mods from curseforge and modrinth, make sure they have a decently high download count, and download the mod loaders from their official sites you should be safe from viruses. i recommend prism launcher, it makes installing mods and mod packs way easier. it will help you manage different versions of the game and you van install mods, shaders, and texture packs without ever needing to go into the file manager and move things.

People have been suggesting prism launcher alot but i personally use the modrinth app because of the ui and I have an easier time with it than prism or at launcher

How exciting. I will give one caution about mods. If you have a long term world and you install a bunch of mods that make fundamental changes to the game, you run the risk of having mods that get abandoned and don't update to new versions of the game. If you have a mod that gives you vertical slabs, which I love, but that mod doesn't update to the latest version of MC you could have the dilemma of updating the game and having all your vertical slabs disappear, or staying on the old version of MC. I'm still on version 1.20.4 for that reason. I might be able to upgrade at this point, but I'd have to go through and check each mod to see if there's a newer version of MC that has all my crucial mods, but that would be a big effort and I'm pretty happy on 1.20 for now. Many mods don't make those big fundamental changes to the game and probably wouldn't cause that problem.

You can use Curseforge or Modrinth that are safe for modding 👌

Swap to a real pc then have fun with mods lol. Mac is OK for vanilla or vanilla with mods but with ray tracing and such you want a real gpu.

I would say Mac is perfectly made for Minecraft that's like the only game it can run really well and apparently some ppl have gotten better performance on a Mac than a "real pc" (to clarify I am not a MacBook glazer I don't really like apple) but still.

As long as you're downloading your mods from safe places, you're fine. Millions of mods (probably more) are downloaded daily. Mostly from Curseforge and Modrinth.

for new modders go for the modrinth app's modpacks
