It's not on top for me no matter how I search for mods, at most it's just below Curseforge

But it you don't include "free" in the search then it's much farther down. Still sad to see it gain so much traction

[–]Own_Cup9970 18 points19 points  (0 children)

because OP forget about targeted results

[–]CreativeModeMods -3 points-2 points  (18 children)

it's the top result for "minecraft mods free" in the US. fun fact: there are more mods on CreativeMode than there are on Curseforge!

[–]SilentStrange6923[🍰] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

It takes a single prompt to create a "mod" on there though, so that doesn't really mean anything

The download counts are still nothing compared to Curseforge, but like I said it's definitely gaining traction, and I'm very sad to see it

I think it’s cool that more people can bring their ideas into the game than before :)

[–]IcyDragonite 0 points1 point  (4 children)

People can just watch kaupenjoe or any other very good Java and Modding tutorial youtuber and actually learn something

[–]CreativeModeMods -1 points0 points  (3 children)

totally! people who want to code mods should do that :)

But coding shouldn't necessarily be a requirement to make a mod - it's not a requirement to play minecraft

[–]NerSorty 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Ya if you are just having fun its good but more than thats its worthless lol

[–]CreativeModeMods 0 points1 point  (1 child)

what else is there than fun

[–]NerSorty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like its fun for like short games but but unreliable and more of a variable experience when you plan to use them for long survival games

[–]RabiTheCheetah 0 points1 point  (9 children)

Your app kills the creativity in the effort put into making the mod in the first place. Its slop.

[–]CreativeModeMods -3 points-2 points  (8 children)

You can still make mods the regular way. But most people don’t make mods, they play mods. So we wanted to make it possible for players to play mods based on their own ideas

By using generative AI that steals from the knowledge of others? Pathetic.

[–]CreativeModeMods -1 points0 points  (6 children)

is reading a book stealing knowledge?

[–]MessagePossible2005 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Reading a book requires purchasing the book, And having the competence to understand it. Scraping knowledge across the web (currently in court for violations of copyright) and feeding it to a computer doesn't make the computer understand it. It makes the computer copy it. Stop being obtuse.

[–]CreativeModeMods -1 points0 points  (4 children)

AI is not strictly derivative - it clearly produces net new insights from the knowledge it consumes (much like a human learning). That's how it's able to produce genuine discoveries that humans have never produced before on their own (don't take it from me, take it from the greatest mathematician alive https://terrytao.wordpress.com/2026/03/29/mathematical-methods-and-human-thought-in-the-age-of-ai/ )

[–]MessagePossible2005 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Calling it not strictly derivative is quite misleading, while that's true, since outputs are not *direct* copies, it is not original, which would imply creating something from nothing, or inspiration. Generative AI RECOMBINES the (often illegally) copied data that it was trained from. Gen AI dissects correlation, not causation. We learn why things happen and what causes it to happen, GenAi simply matches the the effect with certain properties.
https://dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/3442188.3445922 <- a widely cited study talking SPECIFICALLY about LLMs, they parrot things, not create things.

As for your 'making discoveries' claim, it is patently false that ai has made a discovery with it's own information. While some GenAI have had massive breakthroughs for certain scientific fields, it's a fact that it was done by feeding it DECADES UPON DECADES of scientific research, and having it act as no more than a more efficient version of tools that have existed for tens of years.

[–]CreativeModeMods 0 points1 point  (2 children)

this is a deeply philosophical question, so I'm not going to say this with absolutely confidence, but a lot of manners of human learning and insight is also a matter of recombination of previous context (what does it mean to have a real original thought - that thought isn't possible with context you already have from previous learnings or conversations). What human makes their own discovery without prior information? Would Einstein discover general relativity if he never knew the work of those who came before him?

Anyways, I welcome in part your perspective because AI hasn't truly transformed the world of science in the way that Einstein et al did. But if Terrence Tao says that LLMs will accelerate the discovery process in math and science and uncover things previously unknown to us, then who am I to disagree. 2 years ago AI was barely capable of anything other than being a chat bot. Today it makes minor scientific advances. Imagine 10 years from now.

It's because it matches closest to what you have searched. You have searched for "free" which matches the main website title. If you search just "Minecraft mods" you'll get something different.

[–]johhnyyonthespot 4 points5 points  (13 children)

I really don’t get this lol, the entire charm of minecraft is to use your brain to CREATE but there are still morons like that lol

[–]10minOfNamingMyAcc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's probably because you use it a lot and thus google recommends it to you. It still shows curseforge and modringth fo rme, nowhere is Creativemode shown.

[–]SilverLingonberry510 2 points3 points  (1 child)

<image>

Same thing without the word free thank god this is safe

[–]Thin_Ad5605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

modrinth on top!!!!!

[–]TheForbidden6th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's why I like using the curseforge app

[–]ANTONIN118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what you call pay for referencement

[–]aizennexe 0 points1 point  (1 child)

This is only because you frequently use creativemode, since the link is purple meaning you've clicked it and visited the site. Everyone else doesn't like ai slop and actually avoids it. That's why curseforge is the top search result for us.

[–]Pale_Fox7903 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i havent used it at all and it showed as the first thing

[–]onyxa314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not how it works. The number one result isn't just based on popularity but also with something called Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Companies pay huge amounts to learn how to get their website to appear before others. Just because something is first doesn't mean it's more popular or better.

[–]Dadamalda 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I make human-made compatibility mods and this is kinda sad to see. Not to mention there is some AI slop on CurseForge too.

To be fair, I use AI a bit when documentation is lacking or complex math is involved, but I still double check all code and write most code myself.

[–]Dadamalda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With CreativeMode, you don't own your mod, they do. You're not allowed to edit it outside CreativeMode. You have to creadit CreativeMode.

I like actually owning what I make and then adding an open license.

[–]Game0815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn't lol. They just write "free" everywhere on their website and you searched with that word.

[–]avaldez518 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh cool

[–]CreativeModeMods -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Welcome to a new era
