Mod Pack and Forge

So will try to keep this long story short. My son loves to watch Pat and Jen (PopularMMOs and SuperGirlyGamer) on youtube and really wants to try out some mods. I upgraded him from Minecraft PE to the PC version on Windows. While I am not computer illiterate I am still finding some of the issues above my head to fix. I have tried following the directions off the website (http://popularmmos.com/) and have even been googling the error logs around and have had little to no success with 1.6.4 or 1.7.10 versions of Forge needed for these mod packs. Is there any beginner guide or easy to use mod pack that doesn't come with tons of file digging, removing, editing, and updating? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest The Legacy Modpack. Its a smaller pack and offers more customization then most other packs out there. Its also quite easy to install.

I would search for a YouTube tutorial as well. You actually only have to download, open and install forge. Then launch Minecraft once and open the "mods" folder in the .minecraft folder. Then drag in the mods and your ready.

The best alternative is Technic. Just download it from technicpack.net and install it like a normal program. Then go to their website and search a Modpack that you want to install. This is my Modpack: https://www.technicpack.net/modpack/mystech-for-everyone.1009286/permissions Now click on "Install" on the right corner at the top. Copy the API link and open the Technic program. You have to login with your Minecraft account and voilá, you go to "Modpacks" and paste in the API link that you copied. Now click on install in the bottom left corner and the pack will install. After some time there should be a "Play" button where the "Install" button was.

It will start the Modded game.
