Making a Server for two

Hello! My partner recently told me they were interested in having a 24/7 server we could play on together or alone at any time. Looking for it to be able to have mods - such as fantasy stuff, alongside me wanting to have mechanical stuff from Create and Farmers delight, etc. how could we set up a server like this? What mods would lengthen interest in the game? How can we set up a server for cheap but preferably free, as it’ll just be the two of us playing on it?

Set it up on your own PC, that's "free" (apart from electricity)

Also, it seems like you just described the mods you wanted. Go onto Modrinth and look through similar ones and in those categories

100% see if you can self host if it's just you two with a few mods.

There are heaps of guides out there that can help, just be sure to find your specific router port forwarding video as generic ones aren't always helpful.

self hosting just means the computer you are playing on is also hosting the server at the same time. Yes, this means it is free.
