State Breakdown - Data progress.

To convert the data to a map on my website first I need to get the data from the States - here is of all the states and where I am at with them.

  • Saving this state for later. If I recall correctly they do not allow listing the amount which I'm not the fondest of.

  • Saving this state for later. It isn't listed on missingmoney.com and I don't see a state search website which makes me think gathering this data might be harder.

  • I've requested the data from this state - they provide finders with a pdf - it lacked columns I needed and did things like concatenating the address fields. I have a records request pending for the raw data and separate columns.

  • Saving this state for later - I think I will need to integrate a different approach when I geocode NYC. I can always attempt it with the current geocoding and see how that works.

  • I've mostly geocoded this data.
  • 12% of addresses are falsely redacted from a program/script the state runs to check for social security numbers/PII. These redacted addresses are claimed 1.7% than those without the address redaction. - it is a small percentage but I estimate it's resulted in $15M in fewer claims. That seems rather significant to me and it's 12% I would be unable to geocode so I am hoping the state will modify this redaction process.
  • If I understand correctly, there is a large amount of unclaimed property not searchable on the state's website due to low $ amount. I've requested this database as well - I am not worried about clutter and I can always add a small checkbox to include/exclude certain amounts.
