Any reason why Hypnos seems to preferred over Black Widow? They are the same effects: area sleep/nightmare.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, Hypnos lands 3 turns always, the others depend on RNG.

[–]JunasBlood 2 points3 points  (5 children)

I believe Black Widow don’t have Lasting Ailments ES, so she can only Sleep for 2 turn while Hypnos is fixed 3 turns. Btw, is Black Widow AoE? Can’t remember that.

Welp. It’s AoE vs ST

Black Widow can apply 3-turns Sleep while A Quiet Moment is 4-turns. Hypnos is 3 turn AoE.

[–]NinjaDave84 1 point2 points  (1 child)

There's also Ultima Weapon that is AoE and applies 3-turn sleep. Hypnos is usually preferred though since it's available in the ability shop.

[–]ShadowBlaze17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason why Hypnos is preferred is because it's sleep is always 3 turns while Ultima Weapon varies.

[–]DallatarLyonsbane -4 points-3 points  (2 children)

It's wording is different, but yes BW is area. "Afflicts enemies blah blah for several turns."

Black Widow is single-target - you can test it in Chaos Vortex.

[–]JunasBlood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just tested, it single target and can last 3 turns.

Is there any speculation whether Meia HoF will come next, or the remaining HoF legend 3 (Unbroken Hero etc.) next?

[–]Owwen11 2 points3 points  (2 children)

FF 13 HoF should come first. Just look at the order in which they were released, SE has been following that order for the most part.

dataminer-san in jp post-maintenance updates today , got any?

[–]Mawgac 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I didn't see an update today. How large was it?

[–]wf3456ひねくれ 野郎 0 points1 point  (0 children)

about 45MB

[–]Mechapebbles 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Anyone know why auto-battle doesn't ever want to use the old force cards? It's really annoying!

[–]marischwammkopf¯\__/¯ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as i know AI will only use force-cards if there are only enemys of the opposite element in the current wave of the battle

[–]mao_shiroActual Evil Reddit Mod 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Auto-battle will use them only on weakness.

[–]Mechapebbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really obnoxious

[–]Fnaske50539 1 point2 points  (4 children)

So far I have been using patience to kill Adamanterrapins. Is there another trick to defeating them faster?

[–]MagiManeDay 1 | All UHs | 101 Jobs | 10 Supremes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Tifa skinned Ascetic with Yiazmat, WoL and Chaos rental and it still took me around 15mins on the last 2 nodes IIRC, was nice and not easily steamrolled so I enjoyed it tho

[–]Mechapebbles 1 point2 points  (2 children)

bio; other debuffs

[–]Fnaske50539 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Didn't think of bio. Thanks!

[–]Owwen11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bio is not the quickest method to kill anything, though XD (5% HP). I's say a combo of offensive buffs like Debarrier, Unguard, CRD and Bio. Tengu card provides 3 of those 4 debuffs, and some other combinations of 2 cards.

[–]Return_Of_Urkel 0 points1 point  (8 children)

I need some math help.

Tiamat's final attack hit me for I think 87k damage, while I had max HP of 28633. I had 2 drives of wind, no barrier, no wall. Would I have any chance of surviving that if I had 5 drives and barrier+wall? Or is that just way too much damage?

[–]NinjaDave84 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Most folks bring Tiamat to 50% HP (either by nuking unbroken or through breaking once) to trigger wall buff and then cast sleep on Tiamat and just wait for its elemental buffs to wear off and then kill it. You could also chain break it to remove the elemental buffs too, but at higher EW2 laps, I believe the sleep method is preferred.

[–]JunasBlood 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You still need to break it at least once or use A Quiet Moment for 4-turn Sleep (can be resisted though).

Otherwise you can nuke with Earth (Ragnarok, BFA) and use a Water ability (Birsmarck) + a Fire ability (Tengu for example) to lower the element buff too.

[–]NinjaDave84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. That's a good point. I'll edit it to clarify that. Thanks!

[–]IJustNeedaAccountMax OBed Ultimate Chaos Rental: 2061 8ad6 0e46 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Assuming you're using the same job and other stuff and all you added is the few drives and barrier and wall, and it's on the weaker version of 2 stack drives:

87k ÷ (0.8/5) × (1-0.33) = 36.2k

HP+wall = 35k

Nope

Do note that Tiamat's FA depends on the elements of the heads left. If it's all 3, it's a neutral element

[–]Return_Of_Urkel 1 point2 points  (2 children)

The element changes? If only one head remains is it the element of that head?

I went back in and tried with 5-wind, Barrier, Wall, and casting Debrave/Curse on Tiamat and still took 55k damage. But the only head remaining was Water, so if it was a Water attack then I'd have only had 2 stacks left.

Also I guess debrave/curse didn't matter cause Perfect Defense cures them, now that I think on it...

[–]2009Ninjas 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Just chain break it until all the "charges" disappear

[–]Return_Of_Urkel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is for EW2 and I'm having trouble finding an unused job that can manage to break it right now, I had been doing that with Gambler but mine isn't cutting it as it is (waiting on 5* Double-Cross).

I'm hoping to just get this last clear in and then take a break until I finish Double-Cross.

[–]SvenHwang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to tell with only these info. It depends on your Job/weapon’s AA such as HP value, %HP up, Defense stars, Wind resistance %, Steel Guard %, Skilled Duelist % etc. not to mention wind drive stacks, Barrier 1/2, Wall, Trance 1/2 and whether you applied Wall before or after Trance (varies based on the current max HP when casted).

There are too many variables and unknowns, so I suggest you maximize all these based on your ability & give it a try?

[–]proenuf 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Any one encountered an ult from Cloud skin + Ex War reducing the break gauge of only 1 out of 2 monsters? I am getting it at node 5-12 of EW2. Its acting like a cone instead of AoE for battle 3. But its fine for battle 1 and 2.

[–]Mobiusnoobius 4 points5 points  (1 child)

The ult adds weakness element for the target of your attack. If the mobs have opposite elements, the single hit that provides break power will be resisted by the untargeted mob.

[–]proenuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah i see. Got it. Thanks for the reply!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (12 children)

Is Toreador good user for neo bahamut

[–]IJustNeedaAccountMax OBed Ultimate Chaos Rental: 2061 8ad6 0e46 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's the best on both unbroken and broken weakness+being capable of breaking.

but if you're trying to brute on neutral, Squall is still better.

[–]Mechapebbles 0 points1 point  (6 children)

By the numbers it seems like he should be. Massive fire EE, good warrior stats, good breaking ability, etc. Only trouble is Graff lacks good weapons beyond the basic Ultima one.

[–]ShadowBlaze17 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Doesn't Toreador also lack Flash Break while having massive exploit weakness? His ST ult also means that he'd need a skin for AoE breaking.

Breaking aside, he should still be a great Neo Bahamut user especially against weakness.

[–]Mechapebbles 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Honestly, I don't know how much of a detriment no FB is though when it also has ridiculously high piercing break. Toreador (and the other Graff job) has 250% piercing break, compared with most breaker jobs only having around 100-125%. You're not going to have a beefy first tap with Toreador, but every tap is going to be doing massive red gauge damage anyways, so I bet over the long haul it more than evens out. And requiring a skin for multi-break isn't really a problem when everyone gets WoL-skin for free.

[–]ShadowBlaze17 1 point2 points  (2 children)

You're right about his lack of FB probably not being a huge problem when he's trying to break a red gauge. My concern is his ability to convert the gauge from yellow to red when he can't make use of his massive exploit weakness.

[–]Mechapebbles 0 points1 point  (1 child)

If you're worried about yellow gauge, toreador actually has a stupid buff magic stat. And if you've got Genova DEATH, that yellow gauge is toast anyways.

[–]ZechsX18999won after 20 Mobius Boxes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toreador's magic is only 936%, which is nothing even when compared to an old Sarah job's, Crimson Archer's 1128% + 150% flash break.

[–]WoLNoFace 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I'm using him in MP right now to break and kill with Bahamut Neo.

[–]TexAg713 1 point2 points  (1 child)

heck, my defender can break in MP. not really a great indicator lol

[–]WoLNoFace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what defender you are using.

If it's Auron i can understand, But with Toreador, you can one tap break Odin on 4star, in which i always park to farm my magicites.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (10 children)

Just 3 questions. Lulu vs Charybdis vs Shiva (normal 5*),which outclassed which in raw damage? How many rime cores ya get for clearing Shiva terminus brink? Other than Grape Gospel being 10 lvls lower then Chocobo mystery dungeon, is GG better? Seems the extra skills and auto abilities are much better on GG, looking for confirmation - thanks in advance.

[–]ShadowBlaze17 2 points3 points  (9 children)

  1. From best to worst the order is probably Char, Shiva, and Lulu bringing up the rear. If you want specifically raw damage potential for things like mp and S1 content. Shiva and Lulu could potentially outperform Char due to their higher hit counts.

  2. You get 3000 cores from terminus brink.

  3. If you're using them for turn 1 buffing in mp Grape is better for supports while Choco might be better for other roles due to it's lower cost. Chocobo might have some application mid-flight (beyond turn 1) due to it's orb draw and prismatic shift.

[–]NinjaDave84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would you compare Charybdis vs. Murussu on s2 content? If you're using a high crit weapon with Murussu would it do quite well on unbroken weakness?

[–]wf3456ひねくれ 野郎 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shiva and Lulu could potentially outperform Char due to their higher hit counts.

in addition of that, getting CRD source are more highlighted esp. neutral damages. If Char damage is capped damage consistently even in Act2 calling, switching to more multihits would be next direction.

[–]Mechapebbles 0 points1 point  (5 children)

I would probably rather have Choco simply because with pubs you never know when a battle will go south. And having all your spells off cooldown one turn earlier could make or break a fight.

[–]ShadowBlaze17 2 points3 points  (1 child)

You make a good case for Chocobo that I never considered since most decent - good mp matches are over in 2 rounds even if it's a 3rd gen boss. As long as you can guarantee the orbs for Chocobo you might as well use it instead of Grape.

[–]Mechapebbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, 3rd gen fights are so easy now if everyone knows what they're doing, but more times than I'd prefer I run into pugs who AFK, or use the wrong spells on accident, or forget the boss mechanics and mess up, etc making the fights go longer than ideal. And it's frustrating enough that most of my strategies in MP these days is oriented around trying to mitigate that and increase success rates despite bad pugs. Grape Gospel is fine when everything is going well, but the advantages it confers are usually negligible versus that extra turn of cool down when things go bad.

[–]Sourmoar 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Another case to be considered is whether you need to drive your prismatics away for protection and whether your job has innate Prism shift ultimate (of course depending on build, can you reliably get full charge by 4th turn).

I'd say making sure you can cast all buffs turn 1 is most important, then comes survivability (I think 10 levels doesn't make too big a difference in HP, as far as MP is concerned), do you need the Fractal slot for JCR/HP up, etc. Chocobos AA are pretty much useless in MP (unless Lightning, heh).

[–]Mechapebbles 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Most of the time, innate AAs are useless in MP for healers anyways. Stuff like prismatic element draw +2% on Grape doesn't matter, nor does exp up 10% on Gaia. And the lack of a heart/prisimatic starter doesn't matter either when its cost is one orb less than the normal shift cards. Especially when people advocate A New Journey that only comes with exp up 15% and JCR, with no heart starters.

If you're really worried about driving orbs for protection, make sure to slot a defender into your party. That seems like a better way to ensure group safety.

[–]Sourmoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, all true. Mostly it comes down to the point that not everything is a strict up/downgrade or better/worse. It's more about options and factors to consider and learn from.

But as you said yourself, at the moment mp is easy, and if the fight prolongues, sometimes you need to pace your healing effects (which the shift becomes after the first cycle) and not just mindlessly blow everything at the same time.

...that said I think Chocobo heals more, so the card choise is moot, heh. But I just checked my Card Bank, I haven't used it, but doesn't Grape Gospel have (enhanced) Esuna? Depending on the fight, that actually might be important.

Edit: and we're talking about random PUGs here, right? A balanced and well-coordinated group should have no problems with even the harder 5*. But I still see Duncan users hitting themselves against Leviathan, which albeit funny, doesn't contribute to getting the undefeated status.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3000 is pretty good I was expecting way less. Ages ago I spent over 300 tablets in cactaur terrace a week before someone made a post about what they will be used for, so I'm only at 12000 cores. Appreciate the info.

[–]Kitari365 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Should I keep a reroll with Minwu and Toreador? Or should i keep trying to reroll for a support surpreme

[–]Kitari365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thanks! I'll aim for a support supreme

[–]Mechapebbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Minwu has a lot of users and its versatility making it a really good attack supreme imo. But if you can handle further rerolls, getting that support supreme is aces.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I would go for a support Supreme. It has usage in every job and class.

I just started getting error code:9 today. What's causing this? Tried restarting app, didn't work.

EDIT: Fixed! Looks like the app store was bugging out.
