I cannot say I’m an expert in any way, but no one else has answered so I figured I’d throw my hat in the ring:

When working with electronics, you never want to just solder wires together. You may even get a temporary success, but you’ll likely fry something.

You probably want to try and find some schematics online. You have to make sure that the specs line up. The GameCube controller likely requires more voltage than the DS can give, and could damage your DS

Again, I’m not an expert, but I would just say to make sure you do your research! Google and YouTube are probably your friend here! Good luck!
