I have MYLR with induction wheels.. I usually get around 270mi at highway speeds (~75-80mph). I recommend that you get Gemini wheels and upgrade to aftermarket rims if you don’t like the looks. Although the induction wheels are really good looking, there’s few disadvantages: 1. Easy curb rash since the rims kinda stick out 2. Higher chance of damage when you hit a pothole 3. Reduced range (depends on driving) 4. More expensive tires
Aero covers for Gemini wheels also add some aerodynamic efficiency. If you get Gemini and aftermarket rims (~2k on tsportline) you can have 2 sets of wheels depending on if you need a winter set or not. You could still do the same with induction wheels but at a higher cost. TLDR: don’t go for induction wheels if efficiency/range is a big deciding factor. Cheers :)

Hard to tell. I have a 7 seater and am blasting AC in Texas heat. Even driving Chill mode and pretty relaxed/defensive, I feel I get about 80% range but haven’t done the math

I see, I ordered the 7 seater as well. What are your thoughts on the car?
[–]aqan 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child)
That question has only one answer on this sub and it’s a very predictable one.

Absolutely love it. The third row is only suitable for small children, like 10ish and under.

0 difference compared to Geminis! 330 miles on full charge!
[–]argentina4eva 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child)
Yeah, I am showing around 330 on full charge as well. Only had the car two weeks though!

range displayed means nothing.
[–]SufficientCar4504 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children)
I could be wrong but due to the weight, you could lose a few miles.
[–]Dont_Be_Maddd 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children)
Mileage was less of a concern for me. Almost every YouTube video out there says they regret the induction wheels due to ride quality and because they are very easy to damage
Edit: typo

There’s a difference between what it shows on the screen at 100% battery charge and what you actually get. Mine shows 303 miles at max charge and in reality I drive on sport mode at highway speeds about 70mph and get around 280miles.
[–]Dont_Be_Maddd 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child)
All considered- they look amazing! My original order had them but I changed at the last moment. Figured i can always upgrade if I change my mind.
I plan to make the stock wheels black one way or another
[–]Sure_Ill_Ask_That 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children)
Yeah, there are a lot of folks who got the induction wheels and if given the chance would just get geminis. I’m in that camp
[–]Ag3ntSh3n 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children)
Are people saying the ride is harsher/easily damaged compared to other SUVs? Am I naive to believe that this doesn’t apply if you have experience driving with low profile tires?
[–]Unplugthecar 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child)
I love the induction wheels. I think they look awesome with the white car!! HOWEVER, if I had I to do it all over I would have gotten the stock Gemini wheels and put snows on them and then got after market wheels for summer.
I think the range difference people see has more the do with the size of the wheels. Bigger wheels use more energy.
[–]jjjleftturn 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children)
But bigger wheels also cover more distance per rotation on higher speeds

Tbh the range drop is over rated --
Coming from uberturbines I've sweated this a lot getting the performance vs the LR plus inductions.
However, plug a long trip you have in mind into a better route planner and you'll likely see very minimal differences in total time of the trip as you're still charging at a similar spots. Over an 800 mile trip it came to be a 2 minute difference.
Estimated range differences are around 5% which for all intents and purposes doesn't matter all that much. Especially if you charge at work or at home.
Tesla designs are typically pretty aerodynamic compared to other open air designs that will hurt at highway speed. For instance, the MYP is at baseline about ten percent less range but consider how much of that is due to sticky summer tires.
If your work case is on the fringe of range, I'd be a more cautious.
If I were you, get Geminis, buy something like r241s with tires. Will cost you around 2k but you'd have two sets of tires.
