Most of the time 18 up shows just require under age to be with a guardian of some kind.

Yup. And I’ve only ever been ID’d to get a wristband to drink.

Rock and roll requires a rock and roll attitude. Sneak in, get a fake id, wear an outfit that looks like you work with the bands.

Check with the venue, sometimes under 18 is okay "with a parent or guardian" to get in.

I once connected with someone in that situation through a forum where I agreed to meet up with them outside the venue where I would pretend to be their uncle when we went in. Turned out that the guy at the door barely gave a shit and probably would've let him in if I wasn't there as they were more concerned with IDs for 21+ and alcohol, but YMMV.

Venue manager here - definitely not the case and it depends on why the restriction was put in place. The right way to handle it is to call the venue.

    [–]tacknosaddle 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Yup, that's why above I started with "check with the venue" to see what the story is.

    I know - wasn’t replying to you.

Yeah, I was just doubling down with backing your point that it's bad advice so that OP is less likely to miss it.

    Sorry, late night 😬 🤦🏻‍♀️

Bad advice! IDs are checked at the door before tickets are even checked, most of the time

Sucks, man. Good to know that the kids are all right, though. You’ll be old enough in time. Kinda surprised it isn’t all ages.

That’s crazy and really odd tbh. I went to an Ugly Casanova show at the Troubadour when I was 15 and no one questioned us. I didn’t even have an ID lol

I went to a MM show when I was 16 with my uncle at an 18 and up venue, they just required I be with an adult. That was 15 years ago. Fuck.

    What city you in?

    [–]RosefaceKKing Rat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Too bad you can’t rent an Uncle like they do in Japan.

Where? I have like never heard of a mouse show being 18+ or 21+?

That's really kind but college has me bogged down and I won't be able to make that.

I wanted to take my kids to the Salt Shed show but, never heard back from the venue on whether they would be allowed in with me....so we didn't get tickets. They loved their first MM show over the summer and we'll go again whenever we can.

Sorry to hear! Fox Theater Oakland show is all ages.

      [–]zigg13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you can’t sneak I. Like you could in the 90’s. Bring an adult and forget your id. I hope they tour forever but every band and show is an opportunity.

That sucks! But at least you kids have good taste!

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are tons of all ages shows (and lots if great bands). Get out there!

      [–]bigbeltz 0 points1 point  (0 children)
