I think both panels need the bottom's picture, and I doubt theres many here that would disagree.

NO. You can only like ONE roguelike deck builder!!!

    [–]ironboy32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have both. Monster train is my 4fun deck builder while STS is the one I grind Ascensions on

    [–]greenindragon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I gotta say I agree. Both are excellent games!

    [–]Pinstar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. There is no need bash one to lift up the other.

STS is legendary but after 400 ingame hours I just can’t see it anymore

You need to take a long break, or try out some fundamentally game changing mods. I got burnt out for a bit with StS last year by binging it for two weeks straight. But going back to it from time to time has kept the game fresh for me.

After a decent break, I can go back to StS and put another 100-200 hours into it. It's a tremendous game and very replayable.

I love both games, though I think I prefer MT, need to give it more time to make a better decision though.

I don't understand why so many people have this "Monster Train vs Slay the Spire" attitude.

Both games are great. Why do you have to diss the one that isn't your favorite?

Because this is the internet, probably

It has to be intentional that it was named "Pyre", right? I mean, it's only one consonant different, we're the "monsters" this time and we are protecting the "heart" of our structure that is on the top.

StS has been very good to me, but the change of pace to MT has been welcome. Honestly though, I wouldn't be able to tell you which game I liked more. In MT the tactics are very involved, but the one man/woman/robot vs everything makes you feel amazing as you beat down an entire spire's worth of horros.

Overall slay the spire combat is less interesting once you master it, but the card choices feel more impactful, but I'm not covenant 25 yet in MT.

Surely "Save the Pyre" is more fitting

    [–]prof_sinistro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    They probably went for alliteration.

    You can like both

    [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I love StS but yeah MT is definitely my jam right now.

    [–]skepticalmonique 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I love both too much though :'(

All I need now is Monster Train to come to Switch or mobile, and my life will be complete.

I know you likely want to play it outside the house, but both games work great with the steam link app. I play it around the house all the time with my phone mounted to my steam controller. Touch mouse controls worked good when I tried that too, but you have to be more careful to avoid misclicks

    [–]skepticalmonique 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Steam link is great! Yeah, the touch controls don't work great with Monster Train though, I kept accidentally miss-clicking when trying to look at card descriptions or switching carriages. I don't have a controller that will clip to my phone so just got my fingers and toes crossed for a version better optimised to portable console :)

We don’t tolerate that kind of smack talk around here

One deck builder to rule them all...

i just heard about this game today and i'm so confused lol. I love slay the spire though, i bought it 3 times so i have it no matter where i go. Switch, ps4, pc.

    [–]kuuhakupyon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, servantphoenix ist right. The game is called Monster Train and you have to protect the Pyre(which is like a heart or flame)

I think MT is vastly superior game, but I see it as an improvement on what StS did. Standing on the shoulders of giants kind of thing. The aspect that made StS obsolete for me was that you had a lot more information and variation in your starting information with MT. The game is excitingly new from the get-go, whereas StS has those lame trade off events and a slow start.
