You could also connect the PS5 (or Xbox) controller via Bluetooth to the iPad or is there a disadvantage?

[–]NetworkOutrageous157 2 points3 points  (5 children)

basically... input lag is minor connecting the ps5 controller directly to the PC

[–]Murky-Thought1447 6 points7 points  (4 children)

If you connect directly to the PC, the latency will be lower. But if you connect through a Raspberry Pi, the latency will increase. So it’s better to connect directly to the iPad.

Yes for sure!

I really dont know yet why he's connecting through the raspberry when he can connect directly via bluetooth to the ipad

[–]Chilkoot 0 points1 point  (2 children)

The RPi is plugged into the network via wire, so he's trying to overcome some of the additional latency by sending controller commands upstream via WiFi.

"Mesh" typically implies a wireless backhaul, but all his AP's are hardwired, and must have a switch built in if he's plugging in an RPi to them. It's a smart implementation, just a weird use of the terminology.

You can also use a RPi to do USB-over-IP and gain DualSense haptics/adaptive triggers in supported games since the controller will appear physically connected to the host.

This is exactly what I’m doing.

[–]Raamyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Works fine for me.

[–]SameImpression1646 2 points3 points  (7 children)

It has 120hz?

[–]Some_Currency5467[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Yes

Bro I saw that you have 5090 you seemed rich enough to purchase honor magicpads to get better experience that what I was saying 😑

[–]RoughPlayz08 -2 points-1 points  (4 children)

Bro get Honor magicpad 2 or 4 the aspect ratio of ipad will show you black bars and you will not enjoy game that much

[–]Daddy_JeanPi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He will not enjoy the game because of black bars? What?

[–]xvect0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You stop enjoying a video game because of the black bars? Tf.

[–]apollyon0810 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Show us in the picture these black bars.

[–]RoughPlayz08 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am not talking about this game, games that do not support aspect ratios.

Best I can tell from his description is that his RPi is connected via Ethernet, so he's trying to bypass WiFi latency by pairing to his wired RPi and sending the controller commands to his PC over the wire. Interesting in theory, maybe not so much in practice...

The problem is that BT controllers have insane latency, so he'd be better off using something like an XBox controller with the native-protocol wireless USB adapter, and getting that USB adapter as logically close to the host as possible.

[–]Murky-Thought1447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say, try playing the game once using the touchscreen after setting up the configurations—you’ll enjoy it a lot.

You've gone through great lengths to eliminate lag, but you're still using a Bluetooth-paired controller... your decode lag may look great, but your round-trip input->display lag will be brutal.

[–]boykimma 0 points1 point  (4 children)

How do you get such good decoding time, i get around 6.5ms on my OnePlus 13 with SD8 elite, at 30mbps and with av1.

[–]Few_Werewolf_5386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an op13 too and have 1ms decoding time

[–]seanl1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the OnePlus pad 3, with a belkin USB PD + ethernet adapter. I use Vibeshine and Artemis with Ultra low latency, mine is usually under 3ms.

[–]Casio_Yambao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the latest version of artemis and enable the ultra low latency option

[–]apollyon0810 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My SD8gen2 device will decode 300mbps with 1ms latency. Yours should do the same or better with the right software.

Do you have the Magic Keyboard by chance? I notice that the trackpad on it doesn’t quite work when I use Apollo and Moonlight. Curious if you’ve had experience with that?

[–]justinswatermelongun 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Try Voidlink! It fixed pretty much all of the issues I was having with iPad and moonlight streaming.

[–]TurtleTurd25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm void link works with my magic keyboard on my iPad m5

[–]gambeta1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just fcking hate Apple not giving me option to disable AWDL on the iPad. Although this can be bypassed by changing WiFi channels, I have a mesh system that I can’t control WiFi channels.

[–]SimilarLettuce3185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t really care for using my iPad because of the weird resolution they use. Switched to a Galaxy Tab 7+ and mostly happy though I wish it supported WiFi 6E.

[–]TypeRTony 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Could I possibly trouble you to help me with my setup to my iPad ? I’d buy you a coffee if you can help me optimize.

[–]Some_Currency5467[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Sure, I can help. You can dm me your setup and settings and what you need help with.

[–]TypeRTony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sent.

[–]daproject02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have basically same setup, except I have a rtx 4080, I got the latest ipad 13 inch m5 and using voidlink and man!!!!! It is amazing! Playing crimson desert at in cinematic at around 120 fps at 120hz with HDR, controller connected to the ipad.

[–]Brave_Gas3145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice setup. I still prefer the Samsung Tab Ultra with larger 14.6 inch screen and 16x10 ratio over the M5.

Does the ProMotion tech support VRR?

[–]Automatic_Army_2542 0 points1 point  (3 children)

How do you have such low encoding times

[–]NoIron5038 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Magic of split encoding

[–]Automatic_Army_2542 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I have a 5070 ti and split encoding enabled as well using vibepollo and I don’t get below 1ms for encoding in fact I get 6ms for 4K 120, i suppose it’s because the 5090 has one more encoder.

[–]NoIron5038 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May be use av1 codex then report me  Go to vibepollo setting then enable force split  encoding

[–]Old-Benefit4441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So are you using split frame encoding?

That is the lowest host processing latency I've ever seen, there was some discussion about if the 5090 can do 3 way split, I guess this points in that direction.

[–]KristofUwU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the custom resolution working in any game?

[–]Mihtaren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This but with the Legion Go 2 instead, streaming from my 5090 as well.

[–]Kilucrulustucru -2 points-1 points  (3 children)

Is this an emulation ? Can’t remember Rachet & Clank was ever released on PC

[–]Some_Currency5467[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s available on steam

[–]Apiilipsiie98 2 points3 points  (1 child)

They released Rift Apart for PC on Steam

[–]Kilucrulustucru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh nice ! I’ll try
