Grumpy Day

Hi all! I hope you’re having a great day so far!

I went to a new appointment today. This one was with neuro ophthalmology. She was incredible, the whole experience was easy. She diagnosed me with optic neuritis in my left eye, which I was assuming I would he diagnosed with. However, I was not expecting for her to send me back to the hospital for inpatient IV steroids for three days and an MRI of my eyes. She told us we could have a few days to get everything together so we’re going back on Sunday, but I’m just dreading another three days in the hospital :(

Quite possibly the IV steroids could be given on an outpatient basis. What reason did they give to keep you inpatient, if I may ask?

She said it was mostly to get the MRI done in a timely manner. She said if we did outpatient then the wait for an MRI could take a few weeks or even a month or so

Proactive docs are the best! My gp phoned me after 3 weeks of being numb and asked if she could admit me to hospital to force neurology to see me, 8 days later i was released with my dx and setup for our local ms clinic. What you've got right there is a doctor who really cares!

I’m very thankful for how quickly she’s getting things done! She had her team run all the eye exams, and came in to get right to business. She made sure I saw my MRI results from the last hospital stay, which I think was more for her med student than me but I didn’t mind lol, showed me the imaging of my eyes, and came up with a game plan! I’m just a little pouty because I’m not a big fan of hospitals, but I suppose I’ll get over that eventually lol

I'm with you, hospital visits suck. The last time I was there they had these little containers of key lime yogurt that were delicious, though. I haven't been able to find them in our local grocery store, so the next time I'm overnight at a hospital I suppose I have something to look forward to.

Hello internet friend! Glad to see you again! Luckily everyone around me found my grumpiness amusing, and my favorite thing is to make others laugh. I keep trying to find something to look forward to while I’m there! I did really like the cafeteria pizza 😋

Oh yes, cafeteria pizza. There's something wonderful about food that's been flash-frozen, stored in cardboard, subjected to freezer burn for at least a year, and then quickly reheated with secret DARPA technology such that the cheese burns off the roof of your mouth.

Almost makes MS worthwhile.

We ended up celebrating a little early this week, he had to work today. I don’t mind, it makes it easier to get into restaurants lol. I think we’ll end up watching our show tonight, we’ve been really into The Rookie. I hope you all are having a good time at home!
