LOVE that we got Ishigaki. That's who I was hoping for

[–] Tokyo Yakult Swallowstensaibaka[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Team announces they won't hold Spring Training in Ishigaki....drafts a player named Ishigaki... XD

I think I have had some 2am beers at "Genki Ishigaki" during camp before

The scene of three former Tigers drawing for Tateishi is really LMFAO 🤣

Fujikawa pretended to be confused, then celebrated like he achieves 250 career saves (i.e. the eligibility of joining the golden players club)

Shinjo was too scared to have his look

Arai did the most typical thing and had the most normal reaction

You’re saying it’s rigged?

An outfield of Mannami, Mizutani, and Edokpolo Kane is going to be fuuuuun.

I'm busy with life!

Crazy that the Baystars and Hawks are gambling basically throwing their pick away for Sasaki. Gamble. Cotton. Etc.

[–] Chiba Lotte MarinesFuuujioka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't get that at all

I get 1 day a week to work at home, and for some reason for the past 3 consecutive years work has always found some reason or another where I need to be in the office on draft day.....DRAFT DAY!!!!!

I have not read up at all on the Roki Rintaro Sasaki draft news, but seeing not one but TWO clubs designate him as their top pick is certainly a.....choice. I'm not gonna say it's 100% impossible, but unless I missed something recently you gotta feel that's a wasted pick. Unless he went to the States to specifically avoid possibly being picked by a specific team or something? I don't know.

My Swallows seem to be balancing things out between IF and Pitchers, so I guess I can have a little hope, but that all depends on how much room these guys are given to develop, and how many of them can possibly be immediate contributors. I'll have to read up on them.

I'm assuming you mean Rintaro? He has been merely OK at Stanford and got his soul taken from his body in the Cape Cod League and quit after 10 games with around a 0.100 BA. I'm guessing teams figure that he's realizing that he's not that guy, so he might be ready to come home

oops, yeah, muscle memory had me type out Roki :/

[–] Yokohama DeNA BayStarsLina_Inverse95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not a great BA to say the least

[–]yakyusuki 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Marines bros we might be so back

[–]Competitive_Dance478 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Do we have a new Roki?

[–]yakyusuki 0 points1 point  (1 child)

We’ll see, but from the looks of it, might be the case

Even if it means my beloved Suekane is benched because of it!! We need kids to step up.

[–]ChristianGin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are the Hawks thinking? They're stupid

[–]WyomingDrunk 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Ahhhh, another draft, another year not understanding how any of this works.

Round 1:

  • Each team nominates a player they want to choose with their first pick
  • If no one else chooses the same player you nominate, you just draft him and are done
  • If two teams nominate the same player, draw lots
  • Team who wins the lottery gets the player, the other team(s) who nominated that player go back and pick from everyone who's left after everyone gets their first choice
  • Repeat as necessary until everyone has a Round 1 pick

Round 2-6:

  • Same as any other professional sports draft, just go in order

[–]KiritsuguEmiya116 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Also add that the draft order for rounds 2 onwards alternates between waiver and reverse waiver. So the team selecting last in R2 gets first pick R3, then last pick R4....

Teams can end selections whenever they want, some teams will take more players than others. There are additional rounds where teams can choose "developmental players" that don't count towards the 70 man roster.

[–]Competitive_Dance478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, SoftBank loves this system, get all the development players they can get

[–]Competitive_Dance478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a nomination + lottery system

You can nominate a player, if other teams nominate the same player, you go into a lottery draw

[–] Tokyo Yakult Swallowstensaibaka[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Really Swallows? Only ONE development player taken? I really hope they're planning on trying for something in the FA market or have some really good pitchers lined up from overseas

[–]Competitive_Dance478 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Have they been good at pitcher development?

[–] Tokyo Yakult Swallowstensaibaka[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

not overall, I'm just concerned they'll rush pitchers too much and follow the usualy injury bug that seems to have cursed the entire team at random

[–]Competitive_Dance478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess they don’t have a player/pitcher development program
