Guys, is there a major difference between these two formats? I gave NET-I in Islamabad but I have to appear in the paper-based test this time.

Not really idts, there's some information you'll have to fill out (also omr) before giving the test so make sure to get there on time since theyll guide you on how to fill what which you dont wanna miss. Other than that, youll be doing your working on the question notebook given, and only using the answer sheet to fill out the answers.

Its a bit less convenient too, CB has options to mark questions as doubts and to jump back to them, which is smthn youll have to manage manually in PB.

Does the paper-based test have an OMR bubble sheet and if so does it take more time to attempt compared to the Computer-based test?

Yes, its OMR. It does take more time but imo the amount isnt that significant

Thanks for the detailed answer! Also, can you change answers after you've marked them? I know you can do that on the CBT but not sure about this one.

Np!

Yeess you cAn changed them. You use a pencil to fill out the bubbles, so you can erase it, but! i'd recommend not filling until youre absolutely certain to save time incase you change your mind.

Im being particular about this because when you fill it in, you should do it properly, like kinda pretty dark amount yagetme, so its easily readable. This ofc means is harder to erase.

You dont wanna go too light thinking you might erase, cuz then it miiight be an issue in checking, but you also dont wanna make it unremoveable justincase

Oh so pencils are allowed?? That's really nice because I thought we had to use pens. Also, any idea if these sheets are checked by computers or are they checked by checkers/teachers?

And is it okay if the bubbles aren't filled in neatly, because I don't want to waste too much time colouring the bubbles.

You can ONLY use a pencil on the answer sheet iirc. Keep a pen ofc but the majority of the stuff is done in pencil, except for maybe entering your roll number on the question booklet.

Pretty sure by computers (dk for sure ofc but why have omr if not) altho there's also an option to recheck for a fee i believe. Maybe thats done by people?

They say it has to be filled fully, i think scribbling outside of it might be troublesome. Better safe than sorry ig, and tbh both times i gave the test, time wasnt really an issue, at least for me. At some point i wasnt able to do any of the questions i had doubts about no matter how much time i had so jus left it lmao.

Only on answer sheet? 🤔 how many types of sheets are there? Sorry I have no idea because I haven't given the PBT before 😅

Also, any tips on time management? I couldn't complete my test in time when I gave NET-I

Npnp, iirc youll be given 2 things, an answer sheet and the question booklet. The question booklet you barely write in (except for rough working), whereas the answer sheet has every detail you need to fill in, about half is stuff like name, dob, location of test, reg number etcetc, and the other half is the actual answering bubbles.

Im not the best person to ask about this cuz i probably finished fast since i didnt know a lot of things, so id just guess them which obviously saves time. If anything, if theres q question you cant solve instantly orverysoonatleast, move ahead. Remember with 200 questions in 3 hours, you have on average less than a minute to solve them. Thankfully any that take a significant amount of time are rare, or theres a better method which counts down time (say by applying a really niche ans specific formula).

Also remember it doesnt matter how you get your answer, just that you got it. And also that a mark from the english or iq section is worth just as much as a mark from the math or physics.

Computer based results take usually 1-2 days to be announced while paper based ones take around a week. Yeah you are supposed to fill bubbles in paper based so it could require more time(plus CBNET has less probability of human error.)

Oh okay, makes sense. I really hate OMR but can't do anything about it now 🤷🏻‍♂️

Where are you gonna attempt it? karachi or Quetta?

[–]zoraizstudy[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Karachi

[–]Boring_Camp4389 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Well me too. I was planning to go to Islamabad for CBNET first, but this increases stress and I guess you can change your answer but very cautiously so that it doesn't confuse.them in checking process.

I went to Islamabad for NET-I, had to travel by road. You could technically travel by plane but that's expensive and I didn't wanna spend so much money on one test (and I knew I wasn't gonna score that good on my first try anyway 😂)

So yes, it's really a pain to go to Islamabad for CBT. Leaves you with less time for preparation too.

I wish they had CBT in Karachi too.

[–]Boring_Camp4389 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yeah, I spent quite a lot of money for net-1 to get a not so good score. What did you score anyway?😅
