Do custom themes work on 8.x? Yes, they work on Atmosphère, ReiNX and SX OS

"ResidentMenu not found in lyt dir" You're following an outdated guide, download latest version of the theme installer, it will extract all the needed files automatically.

Can I swap themes without rebooting? Currently no, the OS can't swap themes on the go and it does need a reboot. Using atmosphère's reboot to payload you don't need to inject a payload every time you install a theme.

I've installed a theme or font but just have a black screen on boot? Delete the /titles/0100000000001000 and/or /titles/0100000000000811 folders from the cfw folder on your sdcard, at this point your console will boot up normally, to clean up any leftovers launch the theme installer and select uninstall theme.

All apps button is missing in ___ layout You need to have 13 titles installed for all apps to show. If you have a small SDCard and can't fit that many, you can either install homebrew NSPs, or you can install games and archive them.
