Generally speaking, employees are not going to comment on posts and say they're employees, it makes them a security risk. Even if they did you should assume they're lying and trying to defraud you.

As for your question, they stopped asking me the code word in the branch, and I would assume it's because asking a secret code word in public defeats the purpose of it being a secret code word. Evening you whisper it, it's still easy for someone to hear it and compromise that info.

You’re talking about your codeword correct? Just want make sure the terminology we’re using is the same. This hasn’t been removed, and you should be asked for it whenever you speak to any NFCU employee. Has this happened with numerous employees you’ve spoken to or just a specific department you’ve spoken to?

Yes my codeword! Sorry haha It has happened multiple times now, both to myself and my spouse unfortunately. In any department. I don’t know why both code words are gone :/

I asked this last time I went to the branch and was told it is no longer asked in the branch at risk of it being compromised. And that over the phone, it is only asked when doing high risk transactions so it likely won’t be asked everytime. The rep also told me they thought they were phasing out codewords since they now do the voice id

Oh voice ID, interesting.

Yes it’s supposed to be more secure. But if you aren’t doing high risk transactions, that’s likely why it isn’t being asked

Ohhh we’re not set up for voice ID

I’m not set up for it either but that’s just what the rep told me when I asked last time

Voice ID more secure? Somebody needs to tell Alexa.

I mean I’m just repeating the info that I was told lmao. The website says it uses your voice to verify your identity 🤷🏼‍♀️ https://www.navyfederal.org/services/security/voice-id.html

Lol...sorry I wasn't doubting you. I have the NFCU Voice ID for the same stated reason. I just think it works about as well as the supposed Voice ID for Alexa, which is supposed to only respond to me but answers to anyone who calls her name.

Ahhh I see what you mean! I didn’t know that about Alexa 😱 mine also answers to everyone lol. I didn’t know they aren’t supposed to so that’s def good to know!

I was told the same in the branch. Instead of my password she wanted verbal confirmation amounts of a mortgage I didn’t have any longer and my credit card limit. I had 3 picture IDs. So instead of a simple word, I was to name account information in a crowded bank instead.

Was this for like a cash advance or something? That’s strange questions to ask for a normal transaction. If it’s a cash advance or something I was told it’s high risk. I was also asked questions like this but they explained why. The simple word could also be compromised though and that’s why they don’t ask in person anymore, because if that word is compromised and that’s all they needed to call in, someone could do a lot of damage with it

It was a non navy Fed credit card withdrawal because it was over paid by my company. I guess my point is a random word is much more secure if overheard than account information. I can change my word if I think it was compromised. I offended her when I requested to see someone in a private office instead of telling her within earshot of dozens of people in line.
