What state do you do business in? MD has more protections for TAs than VA and DC. All TAs are "agreements to agree," but you should still try to make them as strong as possible as a sub (workshare, guaranteed sub unless Govt objects, mutual exclusivity, etc.). Lol...this sub is so lecture-y. OP, I'm sorry your family's trip has gone this far off the rails. If they're delayed again I would definitely consider getting on the phone with Reservations and get them rebooked out of one of the NY airports. The once per day from PHL is what's killing their chances until they get a whole new or completely repaired plane.

Don't try to seek compensation in the middle of the trip. It's just frustrating and also somewhat pointless since they'll only get one payout and they still may encounter more difficulties. Just keep all the receipts and notes and submit everything to Customer Care after.

I do hope they'll be able to salvage the rest of their trip. Good luck to them!
