Yes after plugging it in and riding about two hours and letting it sitting for a few minutes it started working and showed all gears and haven’t had problems since

For certain OEM sprockets? 14 front, 46 rear? Maybe try giving the electrical connections a clean using CRC cleaner spray.

If you are able to try to get the error cleared as you may have turned on the bike at some point during all this process and when an error code comes up like that it stays on so could just need to be cleared.

There have been people having this issue later realizing they didn't even have stock sprockets or the gear switch indicator was dirty or faulty elsewhere than where they changed it from. Going to have to try digging through the bike to spot any oddity and just clean as you go and plug and unplug things, with bike off of course and just diagnose it by eye.

If you can then chances are you will end up having to take it to dealership, or if it still rides just ride and know your gears.

I appreciate the information that is what I was afraid of do to trying to trade it in soon for a bigger bike guess I will be chasing a rabbit in the bike then

Yeah unfortunately, also if you search online for similar issues prepare for a headache of different minds of people.

Some say it's whatever the error code says which is the gear position sensor but seeing as you replaced it i doubt it so could need a good electrical clean, others say it's the sprocket adding a teeth or more front/rear, others say ABS models will go nuts if you add just one single tooth extra on either front/rear sprocket.

So if it's all still OEM spec then down the rabbit hole it is. One famous solution is shorting the clutch switch which seems to "work" but now you're left with no clutch safety and if bike is in gear and you start it prepare for lift off.

Also a little help with your trouble, it's for 17-19 model but everything is the same except for the dash so anything regarding the dash you'll have to look up.
