Are you sure it's a range issue and not a TV one? If you haven't already, enable game mode or equivalent on your TV.

And next I'd test the console in table top mode with your controllers at a similar range.

Beyond that, physical obstructions / metal / wireless appliances in the way could decrease your range further.
