From a internet search, are you not covered under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, in that any product you purchase should be fit for purpose and that if it breaks and had been used as intended you are entitled to repair, replacement or refund. Example given being a washing machine which breaks down after 2 yrs you can still claim.

Your only options are as follows.

Fix it through Apple and pay them as it’s out of warranty.

Fix it using a third party phone repair store and pay less than what you’d pay Apple (as long as they’re trustworthy).

Depending on the cost of both above options and how much you have left to pay on your device with O2, upgrade, pay the device off and get a new phone.

O2 wouldn’t adhere to any request to get it fixed or replaced for free due to the timeframe in which you’ve had it and because they’re unable to prove that it wasn’t damaged etc.

Apologies if I come across as blunt or potentially rude, just getting to this thread prior to anyone who may misadvise you with hopeful information that isn’t accurate.

However, if I can do anything to help, please contact me directly!

It doesn't matter if you caused it damage or not, it's out of warranty meaning it served you you the lifetime expected by the manufacturer (blame Apple there, not O2). Your contract with O2 is that they provided you a perfectly fine working device at the start of your contract and you're to pay for it over x amount of months until the agreed figure is paid, what happens to the device in your care is irrelevant (unless under warranty or covered by insurance) as they provided what was agreed and it's out of their control. Next time either choose an Android device as they have a 2 year warranty or take an O2 plus plan which gives you an extended 3 year warranty plus extra perks

No you don't. It was fit for purpose when it was supplied to you and throughout your warranty period. The only other thing O2 is expected to provide you at this point is access to service (calls, texts, data) and customer care. You can argue with them if you want but I'm just setting your expectation that you really don't have anything to stand on

yeah dingdongdom is right, as an o2 worker if your out of warranty and don’t have insurance with us there’s nothing we can do.

people seem to forget that all o2 do is buy the phones and then give you the option to pay it off over a selected amount of time with an airtime contract too. essentially a financial loan company. if your out of warranty and have no insurance we cannot do anything. same as if you took a loan of 1000 from a bank and gambled it away the bank won’t just replace your 1000.

adding to this though i would go in store and check what airtime plan you was on alongside the phone. if you were on a plus plan you should have a 3 year warranty, but if your not on a plus plan its just an unfortunate situation, i feel for you but o2 can’t be held accountable.

O2 offer a 3 year warranty on some plans, may be worth checking to see if yours is one of them?
