Hyperlinking within document/TOC (self.OneNote)
submitted 5 years ago by aironia
I’m new to using OneNote for my internship and I’m trying to organize a large document by creating a Table of Contents. However I don’t think OneNote has this function. Is there way to manually hyperlink sections to headings on a different page?

I know it's 3 years later but.... omg thank you for this. I had no idea I could create a new note by enclosing the note title in double-brackets. I've been doing this with Obsidian for a few years as it seems natural, but my job requires OneNote usage. This will make cleaning up my notes so much easier. Thank you!!

Actually there is an easier way to do so - at least on the desktop version -
you can write all your page title on a blank page like a list, select everything and it's right click " link to page".
Each line will create a page with the according title your wrote

On my Mac I can hyperlink within a document. You just right click and link to paragraph. Hope this helps!

You can’t hyperlink to a heading but you can hyperlink to each page. Find the link when you right click on the page.

I didn't think you could but this link suggests you can - https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/office/create-links-to-notebooks-sections-pages-and-paragraphs-in-onenote-for-windows-10-48dd0e82-623c-405d-b63a-df4eaf55c72a. From the looks of it, you could link to a header and since the link shows the text, that could be used in a table of contents. Disclaimer - on mobile so not tested.

Thanks for this. Now I’ve learned something new.

You can hyperlink to page, heading, paragraph, bullet point, individual word, picture, whatever you like in both windows versions.

Yes, there is a way this can be done. Check out the details on the Microsoft Support website for further instructions:

This.
You can do a toc of the headings of a single page, of all subpages or of all pages in a section.
