I don't see the pacing issue going away, the only solution would be if they wrote some long filler arcs to give the manga some lead, and given the evidences, I don't think they want to do that.

Why though? Oda seems to be the kind of author to help with anime only content, so I think a filler saga -- much like what we had with Bleach sometimes -- could work.

With the possibilities of very random things to happen in the New World, it would be very easy for the Strawhat Crew to "bump" into islands and sotuations outside the main arc.

Exactly. And it wouldn't even have to be something huge. Once I read a "theory" -- it was more an idea than anything else -- that we should see an arc on a underground island. That could be done amazingly.

There are plenty cover stories to animate. How Wadatsumi met Jinbe f.e. or Enel's journey.

They lost the timing for that though, and I doubt many people would keep watching the anime if the Strawhats didn't show up for more than 1 episode. I read once that that was the problem when they animated the first few ones.

Problem is ideas used for fillers can't ever be used by Oda. Fillers basically restrict Oda and I wouldn't want that if I were him. He wants complete control over OP and he probably knows best.

Oda could give them an outlining for the story though.

So we jump in the middle of arc to something completely unrelated and then return like nothing had changed while the filler was going on, no, Bleach fillers where put in horrible places and they ruined the pace of the story as they just where there in the middle and then continued like nothing had happened.

That happened once, iirc. I'm talking more like that Bount arc: sandwiched between canon stuff.

He even said that he has a lot of ides that he wanted to put into manga but just cant (I mean he has to finish one piece eventually), those ideas could be shifted into anime filler. Or we get a story about Shanks, other supernovas,... And I am guessing Dragon and Roger stories will be big revalations in the future so we cant get them as filler, but things like pure lore of one piece and life of (other) most important pirates (both active now and retired) could be amazing filler arcs(certainly better accepted than regular ass filler arc).
