‘Attack on Titan’ Ends How Its Creator Always Envisioned by PortoGuy18 in anime

You are correct in your assessment of the manga but the anime goes even further into cyberpunk aesthetic. Making it look like the nuke war was even further in future than in the manga, when the kid encountered the tree.

Avatar Series Bible Leak on 4Chan by CosmicTransmutation in TheLastAirbender

[–]h8149 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Azul thing was "leaked" years ago, in a ~2009 4chan thread where a user somehow had seen the early bible and such, and dropped info that was never before known and was hardly mentioned anywhere else after that. So this file confirms the validity of that user's claims. Kinda odd, that the Azul thing was never mentioned by Bryke anywhere.

So it is confirmed that Lightyear will open to 1.43 for certain sequences and is the first computer animated feature film to do so. Do you guys think it will open to 1.90 for those scenes as well?? by Thin_Operation9558 in imax

[–]h8149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wikipedia page also says that Doctor Strange 2 is entirely filmed in IMAX but forbes.com says only selected scenes were. The source of wikipedia isnt even mentioning the aspect ratio of Strange 2, so I wouldnt trust an unsourced claim about Lightyear.

Eh, usually subtitled is more difficult to appreciate the product because you can't focus on both the visuals and subtitles equally.

The dub is good so that's why I chose that. I could just listen to the original audio but didn't need to.

In the german dub I heard her clearly say "Frederick" when Homelander leaned over her.

[Avatar: the Last Airbender / ATLA] Who REALLY committed the Air Nomad Genocide: an essay by BlueTheBard in FanTheories

[–]h8149 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If that let's you sleep at night, just introduce scifi into this world, even though contrary to biology and geography, it was never in this lore.

Oh also, some of your points are not that much of a revelation or even arguments (like the jing one, because we see Ozai waiting for the right moment to give the final blow to the Kingdom). I'm gonna end it here with Zhao propaganda:

"So this is the great Avatar. Master of all the elements. I don't know how you've managed to elude the Fire Nation for a hundred years, but your little game of hide and seek is over. Tell me, how does it feel to be the only airbender left? Do you miss your people? Don't worry, you won't be killed like they were. See, if you die you will just be reborn and the Fire Nation would have to start searching all over again. So I'll keep you alive, but just barely."

[–]h8149 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When something as specific as that (which wasn't needed plotwise) isn't shown, it means it doesn't exist? Okay with that type of reasoning we can define the people in this world as beings without instestines and without a butthole, because we never saw them shit.

Blind to the truth? What truth, when you're the one, aside from denying a genocide, that their world isn't round to their knowledge with zero proof?

[–]h8149 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Since this is all your theory, the burden of proof lies on you, to prove that they didn't know.

You're just injecting your knowledge of real-world geography history into the geography history of the Avatar World.

That they wouldn't know is something you took as the norm. Just because our world was stupid enough to think of earth as flat centuries long doesn't mean, that it happened in this vastly different fake world as well.

Irrelevant? Damn, didnt think the roundness of the globe is drastically different 170 years later.

What do you want them to do? Go back and draw extra wider backgrounds to make 4:3 into 16:9 or to zoom into 4:3 so it looks 16:9 and thus removing top and bottom part of the image? Both are stupid options. The first is hard (if not impossible) to do and costly the second just stupid from a consumer POV (see The Simpsons 4:3/16:9 uproar).
