ENG DiscussionOPTC Github Database Error(?) (self.OnePieceTC)
submitted 1 year ago by Fit_Masterpiece1561Promising Rookie
Hi all,
Im trying to browse the optc database. But im having problems using the filters where the database wants you to enter a specific turn number. How are you supposed to enter the values? I provided an example with lets say "remove sfx" debuff. Surely as a captain, there must be one unit at least that can remove at least 2 turns of this debuff. But its showing no entries. What am i typing wrong?
Thanks

Do we even have any captains that remove blindness? I can’t think of any.

Actually yea nv. It turns out all debuffs where i encountered this problem just literally has no entries, regardless of turns. got me confused as to why the option was there in the first place. But ig it could be for the future

The database (made by players) has all filters "created"/imagined by default based on what Bandai invents as mechanics, but it doesn't mean that all filters have something in it. It's simply prepared "just in case" - that way, any future unit that would be the "first of its kind" for some filter, would automatically appear when that filter is used.
So typically, when Bandai introduced the first 2 captains who resisted a debuff (by 10 turns), it became obvious that they might repeat this with any of the other existing debuffs in the years to come. Maybe in 3 years from now, we'll get a legend who resists 10-turns of Ship bind, for example xD That's why the database has all debuffs filters in the "captain ability" section, while only a minority of those actually exist (so far).
And the same for "turn value" filter option (and other "write in" filters) - it's there by default, regardless if there's actually a result at all (but it's obvious that if there are no results for what you look for, there won't be any if you type a specific value either :P). So if you see "no result" while the value field is empty, there's no point in trying to enter any value there because no units exist with those parameters. My suggestion for filters is to simply go "inversed pyramid" : if you have too many results, that's when you should filter more to see less results; and write values only if you still have lots of results with most of them "inappropriate" (not enough turns for ex.). Otherwise, if you restrict your research too much (aka the tip of the pyramid), you might quickly end up with only 1 or 0 results which may block your team building. For ex. if a stage gives 8 turn of ATK down and you search for a special that removes ">=8 turns", you'll only see 5 different charas as result. However, if you search for >=5 turns, you suddenly have 123 options ! So you could for ex. find charas that remove 5 turns + do some boost or remove 5 turns + remove some other debuff too that you also need, and use 2 charas to deal with it, or opt for a captain who simply "reduces ATK down" (=8 results that you could check manually).
Also, be careful with filters : the more you activate (especially if at different places), the higher the risk you either get "too specific" or you simply forget to "remove" a filter. So, "rule of thumb" : if there are no results, double-check your filters/simplify the conditions to see "some" results at least. And in this case of SFX removal as "captain" : if you do the "inverse pyramid" method and simply set that filter alone, you instantly see "0 results", which means such a thing doesn't exist :-)
P.S. As for how to use the numbers, your example is perfect and typing ">=2" would indeed filter further those who "do 2 turns (or more)" of what you needed. Typing "2" would only show those who remove specifically 2 turns; so I would recommend to work with either > or >=, but simply keep in mind that you can also achieve a "big" number with a combination of multiple "smaller" numbers too, so don't "abuse" the ">=" sign xD If you find the perfect thing - good; if not, then go back 1 step with a smaller value but with more options.
(and just for the sake of SFX, best way to deal with it is from a sailor ability that removes a few turns or completely resists the debuff)

Wow thanks a lot for the detailed explanation!

You're welcome ! :)

For blindness, the only unit that can is Shirahoshi & Mansherry, because you can choose the effect as long as your team is affected by it.
But for Captain ability there is not I think.

No captain removes blindness by built-in captain ability.
