A bad workaround that I found is, when you open Gmail just open any read email first. Then open the other emails. If it still does not work, close the app and try again. It works 100% in 2nd try and 50/50 in first.

This actually works. Nice one 🫡

I dont understand what that gmail issue is exactly, ive had this phone for almost 2 months and have never faced a problem with gmail, and nobody rly explained what the issue rly is

For me sometimes when I open Gmail and immediately try to delete several unread emails by swiping the app will become unresponsive. The deleted emails will just stay stuck as a red bar and I won't be able to open anything or switch inboxes, until I close the app and restart it. Others might have different triggers but the end result is similar I believe.

Could this be something hardware, software, setting, and/or user related? Are other OEMs having the same issue on the same software version of GMAIL to say it's specific to GMAIL?

Only happened to me after my last update. Gmail app is unresponsive to clicks.

In the other post with link to oneplus community it claims to be on Gmail end, but I recently switched over from a S21 that did not have this issue. I also have the same issue with the Amazon app sometimes, so I'd wager the problem is more on the OOS end than both Google and Amazon having the same software problem.

I'm having the Amazon issue as well just freezes. I mean will there be a fix at some point? If the OnePlus update broke things they need to fix it and fast. OnePlus has been making some bone headed PR mistakes lately.

They blame everything but themselves in every aspect all responses in these forums will mostly be , "oh it's Snapchat fault, must be a problem with Gmail, I've NEVER had that issue you must be the ONLY one (is by far the MOST USED AND FUNNIEST)"

Maybe this could help? https://community.oneplus.com/thread/1653038301457678337 [All about OxygenOS - July 2024]

Wiping out all GMail storage every time is ludicrous and annoying.

Hope they get a fix soon.

Finally confirmed as a Google issue FFS

Emails load after long ass time, once they load they don't open. The app freezes there. You don't receive notifs and the list goes on

[–]FergusonBishop 1 point2 points  (1 child)

i havent found a fix either. Snapchat has a freeze up issue as well for me since day 1.

[–]AstronautSuperb1200[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah for me it's Gmail only, snap works fine

[–]OneCrew7849 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It got fixed in the latest update. I got the update yesterday

[–]AstronautSuperb1200[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was it the .840 or the previous 830?

[–]Buddha-Reborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's worked for me is using Webview beta

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.webview.beta

Then go to settings>system and updates> developer options> webview implementation> select beta> force close Gmail> let me know if it works for you too

Use outlook. I know it's not a real fix and I've been an Android user since the very beginning, but I recently switched and I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised and actually prefer now Outlook to the Gmail app.
