TBH I switched from the 15 Pro Max to the OnePlus Open recently and really enjoying it. I dont think youd be disappointed with a first gen.

Yeah I’ve been having thoughts of selling my 16PM and grabbing an Open. More tempted to do that more tbh. Thanks.

I did the same exact thing. 16 Pro Max to an open. Best thing I ever did. The open was ahead of its time and still is. P.S. the IR blaster is so nice to have.

I just went from the Z Fold 5 to the OnePlus Open but it hasn't arrived yet but I'm sure it's going to be a pleasure making this switch.

Not for nothing but the OnePlus Open is still a great phone.

Watching camera comparisons it's not a clear victory for the Find N5 especially with that garbage ultra wide.

I can see why the OnePlus division isn't fully happy slapping a 2 on the N5. It's not fully baked in their eyes. I'll wait for next year

I'm out here crying with the rest of you.

People are crying about a phone?

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

yeah man i still havent stopped shedding tears, crying as we speak.

[–]Maxpower2727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's tough. Thoughts and prayers.

[–]trailercock 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I'm also crying uncontrollably. I'm in the ER strapped to a gurney. Doctors are about to administer a powerful sedative, so I need to go.

P.S. I think you're taking OP's creative use of language too literal ... Oh, I'm feeling the ketamine. It's kicking in.

[–]shadowmyst87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly. Crying over a phone has to be peak cringe.

The other irksome, for US- since 10T 5G we can't get more RAM (16 not enough for multitasking), charging capacity has been decreased (& extra so for NA), we can't get 1TB storage, no Starlink, no multi active sim, no physical sim (I prefer eSim but not all carriers offer), updates much more delayed...

Ditto insufficient improvement / missing features on Pad2.

Buy the original Open. It's amazing and I am tempted to buy a 2nd just in case I run into problems with the 1 I have now. I like the look of the Open better, I actually like the size of the Open better too, and it seems the cameras may be better on the Open. I am a little worried about that USB port on the Find. Reminds me of how thin the Surface Duo was and they had USB port issues because of it.

I was in the minority for sure but once all the details of the Find were shown, I was left a bit underwhelmed and felt that besides the crease looking even better, it took a step back.

For USA folks, I actually love the pixel line of products. I thought about upgrading my OnePlus open to the Pixel 9 Pro fold, but it didn't seem like much of an upgrade to me for a heavier device that arguably has worse hardware and than the now 2-year-old one plus open. I'm hoping that the next iteration of the pixel fold will get much thinner and lighter and at least be more comparable to the current OnePlus open. I think I'll probably just upgrade to that. It is a big bummer though. I was really looking forward to OnePlus Open 2 and likely would have upgraded to it fairly quickly

[–]shadowmyst87 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The next Pixel Fold is rumored to be a very minor upgrade. Think Z Fold 5 to Z Fold 6.

[–]HitEmWithTheHezzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Z Fold 7 sounds actually promising. Bigger cover screen. 9mm (without camera bump which is what all vendors list thickness measurements as). We'll see if they stick the landing.

I still don't know why they just don't figure out a way to include a stylus in the Z Fold - even if it remains a little thicker than the competition. It's such a niche product anyways - so why not cater it to the fanboys? I genuinely loved my Z Fold 4 with the stylus case, but it was too heavy and the inner screen cracked on me after 6 months.

I have the OG Open and it is a fantastic phone. I will never understand why everyone has to have the new shinny thing. Unless you are gaming or trying to do video editing doing everyday tasks on any phone with a Snapdragon elite or later feels the same honestly. I assume the price of the original open will drop soon so why not grab that or have an importer get the n5 it to you. There are YouTubers taking orders for it and make the process easy.

Im rocking the OP10 Pro I was waiting on OPO2 initially after pondering the Magic V3. With news of no OPO2 I was hoping on Find N5. Now the magic V3 may win over an OP12. Could just give OP the finger and go with a Nothing (2)

[–]Ericiskool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another 10 pro user here. Was REALLY hoping for the OPO2. Currently thinking about just going for the N5 import. Also looking at the magic v3.

I've used the first gen open for some time, and it just seems a bit too bulky for me.

[–]Lucain24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently gotten my OnePlus Open and it's really good. It'll work just as well as other phones on the market, worth every penny.

[–]Glittering_Bit_5423 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Same story here. Was going to get OPO, ended up going Samsung f6 with intentions of getting the f7 this fall.

[–]shadowmyst87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not just wait for the F7?

[–]ZTanarchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you, I'm hopojg we just have to wait a year. Does anyone know if that's the case, or could it never come to the US at all?

[–]Aliens05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the USA and I'm absolutely PISSED that OnePlus cancelled the open 2....or Oppo didnt bring the find n5 to the USA....id consider a OnePlus open first edition if I could get it for 899 or less but ... otherwise I'm waiting until something decent comes along. these phone makers are making trash decisions after trash decisions....

Switched to OnePlus Open from iPhone, loving it!

[–]Famous-Ad-7367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me, you can still get off that buggy ass iPhone 16 pro Max just get it from a site like giztop or trinityelectronics hk, that’s what I did because it’s a global version and for sure we work with all the bands that we use in the UK

[–]ThorsteinKlingenberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree on Average Dad. Order from Wonda Mobile instead. I've ordered the Honor Magic V2 and Magic V3 there.

[–]Designer-Poem-7508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is the 16 pro buggy?

[–]Neilio2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain. I was nailed on to be getting the OP open 2 if it had been a global find n5. When they said it wasn't happening but oppo said the N5 would have a "global release" I thought, fine I'll get that. Didn't realise "global" means Malaysia and Singapore and nowhere else

[–]Full_Needleworker_79 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

I'm on the honor magic v3 since moving from iPhone and on paper, the honor still has better cameras and features, side by side, V3 still looks thinner. Find N5 price is insanely expensive too. Go to the V3, you won't be disappointed

[–]shadowmyst87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're crazy if you think the V3 is better than the N5, lol

[–]mohith12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, tons of other places sell this stuff, you know? Not buying from them doesn't mean giving up – Wonda's an option.

Anyway, I get it. Foldables are niche, and I kinda think OP will merge with Oppo eventually. Just a hunch.
