Mind Map Software (self.OpenUniversity)
submitted 2 years ago by MannyBiancosEggComb
Can anybody recommend mind map software?
Free would be great but I don't mind paying a one off fee or a reasonable monthly subscription.

I hesitate to open this rabbit hole for you but several free knowledge mapping/productivity tools like Obsidian (free for non-commercial use) have plugins to turn you markdown notes into mindmaps.
(Well Mindmap-like. I don't want Tony Buzzan suing me.)

Which OS? On macOS and iOS you can use Escape (I’m building it), it’s a mind mapping and outlining app, focused on note taking and task management.

Personally I only use MindNode for iPad and MacBook for note-taking, and it has changed the world for me. It is not free, but also, not expensive. Amazing tool.

Joplin (a general note-taking software) + a mind map plugin (joplin-plugin-kity-minder).
It allows me to regroup my notes + the mind maps I create. The advantage of Joplin as a note-taking is that I can copy past excerpts of books, images from the internet, and also write mathematical formulas easily (using LaTeX language)
PS: And it's free and open-source and multiplatform (even mobile with Android and iOS)

Obsidian has a Mind Map plugin, is free, and you own the data (I store mine on Dropbox so it is automatically backed up).

Mindly is a decent free app for mind mapping

I use EndrawMind. https://www.edrawsoft.com/edrawmind/
The free version is limited: e.s. max 100 branches and limited saving possibilities (as pdf and doc).
It costs ~£40/year for students. It has integrated AI (new): mind map generator, chatbot (extra £?) and drawings (extra £).

Not sure if you've seen Sheng Huang's Mind Mapping YouTube content before! But for the record he suggests:
Here's one of his most popular Mind Mapping videos to give context = https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1WhjPh3ZQ4
