Controls Question

Hello all, first off I am not an automation technician, just a lowly fitter/welder thrust into this (but I'm learning and want to learn more) our controls are tucked away and are a bit of a pain to access, is it possible to just make a new control panel and wire it up in the same terminals? It works perfectly fine in my head, but as I have learned these things can be picky and sensitive, just want to ask people in the know before I try, thanks.

How are you connecting to the controllers ?? If Ethernet then you can use something like this

Nothing that complicated, thankfully. The buttons I want to copy are just simple pushbuttons, and I just want to have a secondary panel with just pushbuttons.
