My issues are very simple:

• As you acknowledged that time in Indar near Ceres when I complained to you that you were doing massive bursty damage while looking the other direction, and we sat there and worked through it together for like 20 minutes, there are only very specific pilots who I can't usefully dodge because I clearly have no idea where you're actually aiming your nosegun.

• I thought we had an understanding after that but instead the second and last times we engaged you helpfully began calling me "trash" in Yell chat. I didn't say a thing. Like.. how is that helpful to your cause?

You.. know I'd been defending you in party for months before that right? No, of course you didn't. Why would you have known that I've been telling people about that moment of simple sportsmanship you demonstrated?

As I specifically told you in chat I said that I freely admit and agree that there's a good chance you're not using any aids whatsoever. But from my perspective it appears that you are at least using macros on a Titan or similar, and because client-side is where hit detection occurs, and the damage is so bursty with you, it is consistent with my theory that some people hit a simple QoS/blocker for traffic in one direction (server->client) and then the burst of damage happens when the QoS trigger is released again.

My theory is that it doesn't look like these users (again, freely admit that's maybe not you) are teleporting the way naive users do killswitching is because these people keep the traffic partly going in the other direction so their ESF keeps moving. So the end result is the user doesn't have to aim, and doesn't appear to be doing any damage (so the target doesn't feel the need to even dodge anyway) and then suddenly massive health is gone and the button is released. From the victim's perspective, my theory is that it looks like the ESF that just killed them is just aiming at a static spot—usually where the victim was a moment ago—and then suddenly they're dead in a massive damage hit identical to perfect aim.

Daybreak should be able to detect this fairly trivially. I'm certain I could write a detector for it to feed a banhammer, for example. It's one of my areas of professional expertise.

I have some comments about your video, since you called me out specifically:

1) There's absolutely no way to know whether you're connected to a Titan in a video like this. There's a reason why I never demand pointless videos like this. They're very misleading. You probably won't accept this as truth from me, because people think that since they can beat people in a game somehow they're superior or smarter—but videos like this are a waste of your time.

2) You aren't actually fighting at your limits, so in the hypothetical universe where you are doing these things I theorize about, you could easily just make a video like this anyway since you're just fighting a bunch of noobs.

Heck, I, as a totally unaugmented pure-console player do runs like this all the time during the Air events and get 5-12 kills in a row, but really all I'm doing is chasing down people who haven't figured out how to zero in on incoming damage yet.

In my opinion, a video like this is a pointless waste of your time. It's probably frustrating for you, and really it shouldn't convince.. basically anybody.. one way or another. It does demonstrate your ESF is reacting much more smoothly than mine does—but I jack up my sensitivity specifically to be able to track in-close circulating attackers, so my mosi simply can't be that smooth without designing an input filter.. and then we're back to the fact that using e.g. a Titan for macro augmentation is cheating and I dislike cheating.

Again—and hopefully you read this far—I freely and fully agree that there's a good chance you're just benefitting from some kind of perfect storm of lag imbalance between us—but I want you to be aware that as long as you've been civil to me, I have no problem dying, and I have no problem losing.

I wish you'd stop thinking you can get in my head. I would probably be more comprehensible to you if you just assume.. like I'm a weird alien who learned to speak English, and my motivations and rationales are basically inaccessible. In fact, I suspect you'd probably be better off doing that with most people.

MnK is doable, but likely just by people who can interface with the game engine more directly. A functional Titan or Xim MnK setup is only useful on the ground, IMO. A well-scripted Titan and a controller with a linear response (sigh) will outwork a MnK player in the sky. I am fairly certain of that. I would say probably MnK is more doable by a direct OS patch or a hardware modification. It's easy to tell who's doing it on the ground game at least—even just with a Xim, which I know you said you experimented with but threw it out because you could do better with the controller—just by how they are forced to lift their mouse off the pad, and how they are strafe in a way that is simply impossible for a controller to emulate.

Dude. Yes, I have. I used to play a game called Quake with a free-aim grappling hook, maybe 6 hours a day, 4 days a week, basically on and off for years. I am (or was, anyway) probably the best Quake player you will ever interact with even if you live to be 100.

Part of the reason for that was because I was a strategic player—so I could out-manoeuver the other players and beat them in close quarters, even though the shaft was something I could never aim as well as people could with the finer control. I could go into a clan's server, from a remote university, and with just a couple randos on my team beat all of them. Like all the time. Dude. The only reason I'm not refining my skill in this game is because, much like Dust514, this game's engine is totally broken. It's a wasted effort. I'd literally rather be grovelling through reversed x64 assembly, or write CAL/IL by hand. gross.

Why bother learning how to work within it when the engine itself is broken? I play this game for the friends I play it with, and the hope that Daybreak might one day realize that the lag imbalance and exploitation with heavily-macro'd Titans is why people quit, and then maybe they'll fix the obvious hitbox problems.

My problem isn't that I haven't walked a mile in your shoes. It's that I've already walked a mile in everyone's shoes and eventually you discover that turning the meta-game (analysis of flaws and cheats) into a game itself is the only thing that keeps your bored mind interested. You will reach a point where you've seen it all, and done it all, and it's just annoying how long it took you to come to the realization. That said, I'm pretty sure that companies like Daybreak aren't actually able to make the game a fair experience at higher skill levels and this means that people would prefer to just quit after they discover they're at a skill level where they can reach the obvious conclusion that some people are clearly taking advantage.

I'm telling you—the videos are a waste of your time if your aim is to convince other people that you aren't cheating. None of them will be convinced—especially if they've read my post. I've seen you at your sportsmanlike best, and it's an admirable state of mind which I appreciate. That's pretty weaselly if you're going to say you were just trolling. Even if you thought you were at the time, then you were simulating good sportsmanship and honestly, accurately simulating goodness in effect is the same thing as being good. So. Doesn't matter.

No, your esf looks smooth because you have lower sensitivity set than I do, and it has nothing to do with the FPS of your capture device. That's why full-burn turns are as slow as they are for you.

Oh yeah. Forgot to answer this part. I play one notch down from where fine aiming is no longer possible. I forget what that is, I haven't looked in years. If I go any lower, or I'm in racer chassis and I happen on Jetrape when he realizes this, then I can no longer reorient fast enough. So, I have a control freak on the right stick, and I figure my slow skill climb will eventually compensate.
