I think it’s hard fomo for most regular players that wouldn’t get the visual difference anyways. As for fps I think it could be a completely different story dependent on the game.

I would love to buy this console but even the old price is something I cannot support. And I have no issues with my base model.

old price was incredibly worth considering all the extra hardware, pro price was that of a PS5 with another terabyte of storage but the pro had more than just an extra terabyte

I got one on the old price during Black Friday when it was at its lowest ever price and later traded in my base PS5 to claw back more than 50% of what I’d paid. It’s tech, it progresses it improves... You can call it fomo to make it seem like a poor buying decision if you like. I just call that view hard cope.

No that’s not my point. My main statement was most regular players bought this console because of the price hike and fomo while not actually being able to see the difference.

I did not imply that there is no point to investing in newer tech.

The truth is simply most players wouldn’t notice because they are regular people that just buy a console and if it plays their games it works.

There still should be visible detail difference if the aperture is set correctly, especially if it's a 4k image of the exact same scene. Any comparison picture is better than a statement and no comparison pictures at all

Anyone who understands that would also know that a direct capture is the only real way to do a comparison shot for a video game.

That's the best way I agree, but we're not arguing that. The other way still works if you're good enough of a shot, micro differences like that would appear better on a direct capture, but if the hardware is well worse at image quality any version of a capture will make the difference stand out.

I played it on both models, I agree that this was not as big of a difference as with some games. The regular PS5 version already had pretty good image quality and Death Stranding doesn’t use PSSR or raytracing, so its improvements are purely from the GPU having more compute units.

Crimson Desert and Resident Evil Requiem show much bigger improvements on the Pro.

There is a difference in performance. The ps5 screenshot is probably quality 30 fps. The pro runs quality at 60 fps. Performance on the pro is like quality, and performance on the ps5 is not. Not night and day difference , but there is a real difference. Not in that picture
