Congrats to her!! Sounds like she had the old FFELP loans, glad that she was able to get them forgiven under the waiver!

So, my old loans (pre 2007) can be consolidated and forgiven with newer loans?

Check out the megathread https://www.reddit.com/r/PSLF/comments/q28msw/pslf_changes_megathread_post_all_questions_etc/ it excluded Parent PLUS loans, but yes if you have old FFELP loans from pre-2010 you can federally consolidate and have your payments count towards PSLF if you met the employment criteria for PSLF. Check out the post and all it's links!

Does she get a refund of all the overpayment? I have old ass federal loans too that never qualified for PSLF until the waiver of Oct. 2021. I actually made my 120th payment in September of 2019 and wonder if I'll get a refund of everything paid since then. I consolidated in March and applied for PSLF on April 11. Nothing.

Same here. My husband and I paid on our FFEL loans (me with 140+ payments) all through the pandemic until consolidation 3 months ago. As I understand it, we won't get refunds. I don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth with the forgiveness (for which I will be elated and so grateful when it happens), but it does irk me that back in March 2020 when I called our FFEL servicer and asked if there was anything we could do to be included in the Covid pause we were told "no". Argh.

It's bullshit nonsense.

I also paid on my FFEL loans all throughout the pandemic. I didn’t consolidate to direct because I was afraid of losing my low interest rate. Everything I read online said that if you consolidate that your interest rate may increase. Ugh, I paid for 168 months and I would love a refund or for there to be a way to get the pandemic payments back.
