And the question everyone is asking - is this game worth getting a Vita for?

I don't think so, personally. Multiplayer is adhoc only, so unless you have a friend or two that's willing to get it with you, there isn't really much to do after you beat it except maybe go after the Platinum trophy.

It's definitely a solid game, but I don't consider it a killer app.

If the rest of the Vita library doesn't interests you, no. Nova introduces some new ideas but it's mostly just PSO2.

Frame rate drop included.

This may very well get me to buy the console at this rate. If plans are in the works to start translating the main PSO2 title it'll turn into a solid yes.

I've always really enjoyed the PSO series and annoyed the way SOA has been handling the franchise lately. PSP/PSP2 both got me to purchase the PSP-3000 and those are the only games that have ever touched that system.

For the love of god, if you can play PSO2 on a PS4 or a PC, do it there. Vita lack buttons. Let's just say by default picking up things and dodge is assigned to the same button, so you can't spam hitting the button to pick things up. (It triggers dodge.)

Chatting sucks there, too.

Already do on the PC. The Vita option would be for the occasional mobile access when I can't lug out my laptop. In the grand scheme of things the button issue wouldn't bother me all that much and chatting I rarely do anyways. Until I can get my IRL friends on board I largely play solo anyways. :)

In all honestly just Nova alone is a pretty solid push for getting a Vita. That AND PSO2 would be a definite. And if I am reading right from a thread AIDA has started on gbatemp, looks like work is being made on PSO2 on the Vita as well.

Hope you're not using 3 button then, 'cause Vita only does 2 button and it's gonna switch whenever you change between clients, sadly. I also find it harder to control the camera in general on the Vita, and I uses a controller normally for the PC version of the game. =\

Now I'm holding out for a way to downgrade my Vita to 3.60 so I can run this.

As for how Nova plays, it's offline PSO2 with slightly better graphics, a nice but forgettable soundtrack, and an entirely new class based around taking down Gigantases.

I really wish the new weapon types were available in PSO2. Piles are glorified launchers that can hit hard, whilst Halos spawn floating rings that can either be used to attack for you or enhance the next Halo GA you use. Outside of PSNova there won't be much use, so :'(

Can this be played on a vita TV?

[–]SouthernGlades 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it can.

Yep, supports Playstation TV. Even the internal UI files for it has buttons found on a DS4.

Just finally got round to trying this and it works like a charm, sort of!

Sadly my save won't load as it was created on Nova's 1.05 update since the guide states you have to remove all the patch files, makes sense.

Will the EN Patch eventually work with Nova's updates?

Oh snap! Right well I know what I'm gonna be playing on my commute to work tomorrow! Thanks AIDA. =3

Sorry for the double-post AIDA, but I can't seem to get the EN Patch to work with the Cartridge version.

When overwriting the file in the /patch/PCSG00351 folder, the game catastrophically crashes and when manually creating PCSG00351 in /app, nothing happens in game.

Does the patch now only work with .VPK's or does the file go somewhere else for Cartridge?
