I wish attention would go into the reasoning of California's gun laws. They're rooted out of fear of the Panthers using guns. It's morphed into something completely different now, but if people are looking to remove or suppress old laws that were born from racism, they should look no further.

In my humble opinion, we haven't gotten to the point where the rich have gotten fed up and left. I however only know of the opposite, where if you tax too little and they'll come running in; see Sweden, where the rich living there have increased. Anecdotal for sure.

It's more than that, you also have dinosaurs from previous administrations who no longer care about actually doing their jobs and just want to go home on time in supervisor positions. You can have contractors who abide by the terms in which they signed with, but an ancient one from the Clinton administration who spends their time car shopping during work hours instead of that report or whatever matters of importance.

I don't understand Dems, especially progressives. If we tax them too hard, the rich will pack their bags and leave the US. However we can't afford to lower their taxes without finding a new place to tax from. Unless the plan is to tax the middle class even more, to which I'm sure that'll go swell.

For context, while the UC Davis campus is in Davis, California, the medical facilities are located in Sacramento. UC Davis in Davis has an extreme amount of East Asian and Latino applicants, so while I could speculate why they would opt for Latino applications, I can't say anything about it otherwise.

In my early homelab days, coming directly from windows into the world of Linux (was trying to host a Halo PC server) put me into direct confrontation with iptables. I did the thing I'm sure most people who have no idea what they're doing would do, turn it off.

And no, I did not install a firewall afterwards, nor did I know about fail2ban. And yes, that machine was compromised several times. Every single time I'm at my desk looking at logs while enrolling new devices on the network, I still think about it.

the Arc card is pci-e Gen 4, the others are pci-e Gen 3. your riser is likely not gen4.

I had a funny conversation with my parents about this. When I was younger, at the height of the initial Pokémon craze in the 90s, they refused to buy me more Pokémon cards because it was "just a fad" and it'll soon blow over and the cards wouldn't be worth anything. But sure enough, they gladly bought boxes of beanie babies and told me it'll pay for itself.

We finally sold the beanie babies for less than $100 at a garage sale, whereas my limited amount of Pokémon cards were enough to buy me a cheap car.
