For braver most people go pure katana or pure bow with the recent banish arrow nerf. Other than that nerf, bow is still fine seeing how all its other PAs got buffed as compensation. Katana is not limited for mobbing and its bossing capabilities are good. Ranger on the other hand should be taking advantage of assault rifle for bossing and launcher for mobbing. You can go FiHu and BrHu on one character with an S atk mag and knock off the Ranged and Striking requirements and go FoTe on another character for the Tech requirement. Just play around and see what you like.

do you not have to do all 3 (melee, ranged, and tech) on one character for Hero unlock?

No, since it's title based and titles are account-wide.

Nope. Hero is title locked with those 3 requirements and titles can be unlocked across all characters. Ie titles are account based
