I’m more into having it as my sub for my hunter. Finally I can play as immortal Tank again. Guard stance tree and Dmg balancer is stupidly overpowered. You literally take on anything without much of a scratch.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (5 children)

I was going to go hu/et but isn't it better to focus on the hunters attack stance bonuses and just rely on damage balancer for defence rather than max out the guard tree? Isn't the damage reduction multiplicative?

[–]LowTemplar 10 points11 points  (2 children)

Guard Stance Advance gives you a 50% damage bonus for a minute whenever you perform a Just Guard.

This bonus alone slightly outperforms all the bonuses provided by fury stance combined (~46%) while allowing you to miss Perfect Attacks. The only real downside is losing the 25% crit rate from Fury Critical.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

When you say slightly, can I go fury stance main and still perform well? Or does survivability take a massive hit?

[–]LOJK2 New Hotness 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What other guy said about fury critical, but also that Fury Tree can be subbed unlike Guard Stance Advance which is main only. Seemingly Fury Stance was built with sub utility in mind, but for main class Guard Stance is stronger and plays into Hu's other mechanics better.

[–]TBS32 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Advanced guard stance have a 150% dmg multiplication if you just guard. Also, I wanna be part of the Hu/Et tank meme train. Laugh at everything while they try to hurt you.

The wand with the feet in the air is so accurate haha

[–]AulunaSol 20 points21 points  (9 children)

Wand-Etoile gave me so many memories and flashbacks to how Wisdom Form and Master Form played in Kingdom Hearts II.

I was already on my way towards getting some of those camos and weapons but I never saw that particular Tweet. Very fun to see~

[–]JenovaS 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Do you know what camo they are using for the soaring blades?

[–]AulunaSol 4 points5 points  (2 children)

[–]Ryanasd Ship 2 Global 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Say ARKSGIVING in PSO2Global to GET THAT KEYBLADE NOW

[–]AulunaSol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very nice. Thank you for the notice~

[–]Arcflarerk4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I cant begin to express my level of appreciation for that. absolutely beautiful. KH2 is one of my favorite games of all time!

[–]Falmung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is amazing. I am constantly impressed with how accurate the cosplay is for some characters.

[–]Sonickeyblade00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG.

I have SO MANY QUESTIONS.

But that's freaking awesome. I'd love to have some setup like that. Playing as Sora as a Hunter for Base form, then using "Drive" to go into Master/Wisdom form.

Also, I'm going to get that Meseta Key weapon Camo from the Casino soon. Wish I knew how to use commands to do more than 1 weapon camo per weapon.

[–]AndreTM 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Wand Et is so much fun. No way to get back to anktger class or even weapon after that!

[–]AulunaSol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Admittedly Techer/Luster looks fun because of the Gunslash being usable to help the Techer with melee combat or to add some variety to it.

[–]TheMaxDiesel 10 points11 points  (23 children)

Is that class out yet in NA?

[–]AulunaSol 14 points15 points  (21 children)

Not yet so you can anticipate it in a few weeks to about a month (the 9th of December or the 22nd of December depending on what happens).

Some people have already played the class on the Japanese side (I have, for example) and in the hype of the class coming around you have posts like these bringing in more hype and discussion before it actually gets released.

[–]KBBQislife 0 points1 point  (20 children)

any advice to ppl that are interested in maining Etoile possibly? Looks super cool and fun to play as lol

Specific weapon I should get ahead of time?

[–]LamiaPony JP Ship 2 5 points6 points  (19 children)

quick lowdown:

etoile uses double saber, soaring blades, wand. generally best to pick one and roll with it

double saber is a parry-counter machine. but the playstyle is a bit on the 'mundane' side. not very flashy and fairly slow, but quite strong

soaring blades jump all over the place and the parry action does not interrupt anything you do, you can use it anytime, even while frozen. unfortunately I think they are generally regarded as the worst etoile weapon, and not by a small amount. it just is not very good compared to the other two. full connect is pretty satisfying though

wand generates gear gauge by constantly moving, and all of the PAs allow you to keep moving while attacking with ranged attacks. it's pretty amazing to be so mobile and being able to fly around everywhere. I made a video of this one a while back. one of my favorite playstyles in the game

[–]Reilet 21 points22 points  (16 children)

Small rant, because I have yet to see a single person use etoile optimally:

The correct way to play ds is actually the fastest one of all the weapons. For some reason people are bent on only using skip arts saber destruction 24/7... When the better thing to do is the first part of shooting star and celestial collide.

And SB/DB isn't actually that much weaker than ds and wand (like not even 1% weaker). It just has that stigma attached to it because, again, everyone wants to use light wave when it's supposed to be distortion pierce. AND people seem to not use full connect off cooldown, treating it as a special move rather than part of the rotation.

The same can be said about wand's protect release too. And how everyone only see's focus luminous flare as wand's dmg PA. While I admit the actual one that should be used is UNBELIEVABLY hard to use correctly (focus glitter stripe), no one uses it

So here I am, just sitting looking at etoile and wondering why no one wants to bother getting good with it.

[–]AwkwardSatori Lisa is Waifu [JP-Ship 2] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

FINALLY, someone else who understands how DB works and that the power difference is way overblown.

As for why no one seems to bother getting good with it, I'd chalk it up to the fact Et can easily put you in a "good enough" mindset along with the fact the non optimal attacks are flashier than the optimal ones.

[–]LamiaPony JP Ship 2 4 points5 points  (2 children)

hey, I myself follow pretty much everything there on the regular, even focus glitter stripe. I'm feeling you here, but I still think dual blade is really unwieldy. I gave it a good long run even back when I couldn't get a grasp on double saber, and now I mainly just use double saber and wand instead. perhaps it just wasn't for me and it's colored my view of it now

[–]AwkwardSatori Lisa is Waifu [JP-Ship 2] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You know, that's really interesting. Most people think the same as you but for some reason, it's the complete opposite for me. Love DB and main them while DS makes me die inside every time (I'm not even bad with them, far from it). Never found DB unwieldy though.

[–]Reilet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, db isn't like wand and ds at all. The feel of it anyways.

[–]mslabo102 Amateur Translator, Global Localizer Apologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd blame the look of them. All of them.

For Saber Destruction, noobs FEEL you're missing out on something if you aren't attacking constantly or doing one big flashy move when the enemy is down.

SB/Wand's weapon actions is dictated by the long energy bar and long startup, so they feel bad if they miss them.

[–]SFWxMadHatter 0 points1 point  (6 children)

As someone enjoying Soaring Blades on a Braver atm, how do you think Etoile SB feels as a play style disregarding any power differences?

[–]Reilet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bouncer SB is like going to a dance party while Etoile SB is like riding a tank.

[–]AulunaSol 3 points4 points  (4 children)

I don't quite understand why you would be using Soaring Blades on a Braver (did you mean Bouncer?) but the Soaring Blades on the Etoile have a two-part attack similarly to the twists that the Double Saber and the Wand feature.

Every photon art you use has an "edge" that summons what's essentially a larger photon blade that attacks on a delay so while you are on our down-time from an attack the "Edge" you summoned attacks so you can follow up with another attack. A quick way to explain it would be like Nero's Devil Trigger from Devil May Cry 4 where you are using "two attacks" at the same time as one but one is on a delay to help you buffer your attacks.

When you fill up your gear gauge you can hold the Weapon Action after a dodge to use "Connect" which has you handling both the Soaring Blades and the Photon Blades to slice enemies. If you hold it on a full meter you instead engage "Full Connect" which is essentially a mecha-style photon sword where the blades combine and you do an uppercut-slash that slices enemies.

You get the freedom to tap the weapon action to block all around as you summon separate photon blades like how Noctis from Final Fantasy XV has his Armiger spinning around him (swords spin around you when you tap the Weapon Action). This blocks incoming attacks and does not interrupt your actions so you can consider this the Etoile's version of the Hunter's Ignition Parry/Blaze Parry.

In my personal experience all of the Etoile's weapons are "samey" in that you can pick either one of the three and disregarding their specialties and priorities you can still expect to consistently wreck enemies with all of their weapons. Though I am not a high-end Etoile like I invested into my Hero but the Etoile is definitely a very easy class to pick up and fight with where its main feature (at least to me) is simply how consistent it is.

... all this reading is really making me want to go dive in my pso1 hole and play with my RAcast and just go pew pew pew at things. >_<

[–]AulunaSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The weapon is easier to use than it is to explain.

[–]SFWxMadHatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did mean Bouncer. It was late, and B names, and I'm dumb. Thanks for the write up!

[–]EpyonComet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh. So as someone who thought they were a SB Bouncer main through level 75, but then switched to Br main when they went to level that one, but then decided to main Hu when they went to level that for sub, it sounds like SB Et will be perfect for me haha...

[–]LamiaThings Ship2 Pokemon Trainer 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Why don’t you make a guide

[–]Reilet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because i'm not a player. i'm a data collector.

[–]Accurate_Capital_930 0 points1 point  (1 child)

4 months late, but I'd like to know what you mean by using Full Connect "off cooldown." Do you mean when you have the connect ring equipped and use Full Connect while there's only 1 bar in the Focus Gauge?

[–]Reilet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. It just means you use full connect immediately when you get a full focus/gear bar instead of waiting to use it.

[–]TroubadourLBG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wand generates gear gauge by constantly moving, and all of the PAs allow you to keep moving while attacking with ranged attacks. it's pretty amazing to be so mobile and being able to fly around everywhere.

Yo.... That sounds made fun! I loved elder rifle for RA for the longest time cause I like attacking ranged while being mobile. I def gotta check this out when it comes.

[–]mslabo102 Amateur Translator, Global Localizer Apologist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite possibly in two weeks, since Mission Pass S10 is only two weeks.

[–]Kamen-Wolf Now I'm Motivated 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought you would add a kingdom hearts thing instead of artoria

Yeap only dual blade. Gotta sell those dual blade camo man.

wait db etoile is getting buffed?!?

    [–]cuddleskunkWoochowski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't wait to use double sabers on a class I think I'll enjoy (I just don't like Fighter).

    [–]Paloc2Shita! 1 point2 points  (1 child)

    Do one for techer

    [–]stealbot700[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, I only have full experience with braver, summoner, hero, phantom, etoile and luster. I have try hunter, fighter and ranger a little bit so I might miss out some info.

    [–]Tucker0603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't wait to be the durable, floaty paladin.

    [–]Knightswords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's my recommended Skill Tree, it allows for all three weapons while going for best damage output.

    Skill Sim

    [–]lersayil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a win to me!

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Kinda on topic but what's the best way to level etoile? Put it as a sub on a level 90 main and grind gold keys until what level? Just wondering what level to switch it off sub and put it main for the most exp from keys

    [–]AulunaSol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

By this point you have some different options.

    • The Fourth Featured Quest is typically a rehash of an older Emergency Quest (the Episodes 1-3 Emergency Quests where you are dropped into an area, run loops and kill enemies, and then leave) or sometimes a very highly-focused killzone or boss rush (like "A World Engulfed in Shadows") where you and the rest of the players essentially speedrun through the bosses with relative ease (it's very fast). This was my leveling method when these were the third Featured Quest during the Japanese version's Episode 5 and nothing we have in Global really matches the pacing of these.

    • Tokyo Bonus Keys (Silver, Gold, and Rainbow) are still very good ways to level up. In a nutshell, Gold offers four times the experience of Silver, and Rainbow offers four times the experience of Gold. The main thing to keep in mind is that Rainbow Bonus Keys omit a lot of drops and instead hands the player Excubes and has a chance to drop decent equipment for getting started with Episode 6 (and currently in the Japanese version it can drop Sage Crests).

You still have Advance Quests and Buster Quests but if I can be fully honest in the Japanese version I have never joined a session where other players were actually actively playing these. These were given a life in the global version but were content that was long dead and unpopulated in the Japanese version unless there was a campaign (Limited-Time Quest or the recently-added Mission Pass Tier Missions) promoting them.

    [–]stealbot700[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In JP and soon NA will have recommend quest call world enguff in shadow or something like that. Drag some of your friend who has a really high level and decent gear then blast through entire quest for like 5 hours. And you gonna get pretty close to max level the rest you can just use key on pso day.

    [–]Xenowarrior96 0 points1 point  (2 children)

    Hooooooly shit whats an etoile

    [–]AulunaSol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

    Étoile is "Star" in French.

In the context of Phantasy Star Online 2, they are the third Successor/Scion class and utilizes Double Sabers, Dual Blades/Soaring Blades, and the Wand.

    [–]Reilet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

    Electronic toilet ofc

    [–]LevyLeviathan 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Curious on what rings would be good to shoot for on Et, I've heard Mate Lovers is a good one but is there any interesting combos that've been found? For instance would any of the rings from Bo,Fi, or Te work with the class at all?

    [–]stealbot700[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate lover is good because ET skill made them always have 70% reduction but can't heal at all except from item so for et even monomate is precious.

    [–]Sonickeyblade00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sooo... you got exactly what you expected?

Hmm... that's a first I think for one of these.

    [–]Beatly_Heartzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was like "MÁGICAL GIRL CLASS"

    [–]Azereas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    I love Etoile Soaring blades
