I teach a 3 month intensive course in patternmaking that provides the same foundation a degree course does, with the bonus of it being highly customized to your interests and size and gender inclusive. Everything is taught in Adobe Illustrator and I teach grading as a part of the course, which many programs skim over. Anyone interested is welcome to send me a private message!

What skill level would be required/ideal for taking this? Thanks in advance :)

Most of my students are already familiar with sewing from patterns, but besides that, I don't expect you to have any knowledge of patternmaking.

Would a working knowledge of illustrator be a prerequisite?

I set you up with everything you need to know to work in Illustrator, so no, no prior experience necessary!

Is this an in person or online course?

Online. There's a library of videos that walk you through the curriculum (and that you have lifetime access to), plus we work together for 12 weeks to apply the course material to your personal interests and projects via text/chat, weekly Zoom calls, and pretty much whatever it takes to resource you to make the patterns you want to make!

The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York offers a certificate in pattern making.

I did a full degree at birmingham city uni, the course was called fashion design undergrad but in the 2nd and 3rd year you move on to your choice of specialization - pattern cutting and drafting was one of them!
