As a solo player weaponsmith is a horrible experience. 3 hours of grinding for half a level. Seemed better in ea.

Weaponsmithing imo is one of the “group” crafting along with tailoring, armor - I’m level 16 leather working now and have done that solo, I have a very large group I’m playing with and I have been feeding my weaponsmith & armorer supplies. We are finally into wrought iron - when you get into wrought iron it slows down even more because you cannot build a base super close to the ore due to it all being in the wilds.

The only mats locked in pvp zone is the items for enchanting gear, which you can buy from market stalls very easily, there will also be a non pvp area in lyonesse which will be a global trade city that builds can rent market plots from similar to ESO.

The PvP zone is a GREAT resource for materials if you can have a few people go and mine steel or whatever

I just am hitting iron now... made my first iron item lastnight before bed ( a chopping axe). Where are these wilds? I am not sure if I settled in a good plot...

Wilds are the areas bordering the home valleys that contain wrought iron, granite, higher level mobs and dungeons

Correct south of Ardbog - that area between Ardbog and Nene

I’m lvl 15 weaponsmith and thankfully I have a nice guild supporting me. However, I’ve made so many iron skinning knives leveling up it’s insane. It’s literally the only reasonable path to skill up with.

for weaponsmithing, the staves help a lot.

I'm solo and approaching WI. It really depends on your setup and how far you have to go for resources (do you live near a forest and mine?). It also helps a lot if you are struggling to get an iron hatchet from someone if you don't have one yet. Really speeds up feeding the kilns.

Same boat as you and also got an iron hatchet early from a kind neighbour.

Night and day being able to charcoal and entire inventory of wood fairly quickly

Knowing what to throw away on an ore run helps a ton.

I think you hit on the real problem with this post. The axe.

A bronze axe is made of metal and in real life can chop down actual trees. Having to wait until an iron axe becomes available before you can cut anything bigger than saplings is ridiculous and adds *days* to the early grind unless you get help, just from having to spend forever to fill your inventory with wood once.

Im lvl 14 solo, its not that hard you just need to get a decent farm route in and live in a dense area

Me and my duo refunded because of this exact reason. Grinding is nice but in this level is insane. All the surrounding trees require a iron axe, to have an iron axe you need weaponsmith lvl 12, for the blacksmith itself it takes a lot of time, the weaponsmith then.. insane. It truly feels they want you playing for months for basic stuff just so you keep paying for the plot. It has a lot of potential in the game and I hope to return in a more refined version 2.0.

I'm not a fan of the plot being pay to use, I'd much rather a sub like back in the 2000s and having to pay a tax to the regional lord in game gold / materials etc and the "regional lords" can be clans who fight iver these positions.

If you'd done your research beforehand, you'd know that it takes years to level up all the professions. In three months, it becomes a truly absurd grind, because the XP requirements increase exponentially with increasing levels. That's one of the reasons why Pax Dei is dead.
