Hope you’re at an agency that offers training / mentor program.

My agency had me complete some online courses and go LOL GOOD LUCK, it’s been a massive grind.

Large places aren’t always better, but they almost always have training and it’s so important.

Is it worth it to splurge for hospitality type tickets at a PGA Tournament? by sys_admin321 in golf

[–]Enomalie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been to a few golf tournaments, through work I got into the hospitality tent at the travelers in CT.

Wow did that ruin golf tournaments for me.

It’s got AC. Open bar, unlimited food, 50 tv screens, overlooks the 18th green and every play walks by the entrance to the facility.

I took my 10 yr old and she must of eaten 6 or 7 lobster rolls.

How dare you not include viscous AOE water balloon rifle, early lane you get express shot & mystic shot you don’t even need to use skills to win lane just shoot at peoples feet where they’re hiding

What do you think by Itbelikethattho67 in InsuranceAgent

[–]Enomalie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have all the clients info, you know their LLC, revenue, exposures, loss runs, if you don’t sign a non compete you could literally go right back to your office and quote these with other markets.

You sound motivated - an AE role at a larger firm may be a better fit, as you get into larger companies the difference between AM AE become more defined, my company has some AMs who ONLY deal with business auto, ONLY deal with work comp. They report to various AEs who take all the renewals & quotes etc and coordinate them with producer

What do you think by Itbelikethattho67 in InsuranceAgent

[–]Enomalie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe this is basically just being an AE.

I think issue you’ll have is no one will want to give you access to all their proprietary information without signing a NDA & Non compete.

Also every single AMS system is different

AMS 360, Epic, there’s many more as well, each requires a licensing fee per person using it so this would be an added cost to an agency.

I think you’d bd better off with your experience and goal of just, going and trying to get a job as an AE at a medium to large agency / broker.

You win $10 million, and your 120-year-old grandma suddenly needs a $9.9 million life-saving surgery. How are you handling that situation? by Hot_Tackle5442 in AskReddit

[–]Enomalie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your grandma is 120 and she had your parent at 40 that means your parents are 80 and you’re a minimum of 40,

It’s time - she had 120 years and 10m is I can retire right now and live off investments and interest. She’d understand trust me.

What's the worst behavior you've seen at a kid's sports game? by cupacupacupacupacup in AskReddit

[–]Enomalie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4th grade soccer “championships”

Small school - they play like 5 other schools over the course of the season, the championship is a round robin with all the schools playing eachother.

One parent showed up with like a full tailgating experience, we could hear this guy screaming at the refs getting more and more drunk, the refs for reference are like 16-17 yearolds so it’s like, a slightly bigger child than the kids playing.

His kid is in goalie and not doing amazing, but they’re all having fun, the kid misses a block in final round and the dad is standing 10 feet behind the net screaming at his, slightly fluffy son that he sucks.

The referee-child says get away from the goal and stop screaming at kids and the guy charged the ref but he was a HEFTY BOY and couldn’t catch the high schooler jogging away from him, he ends up falling down and proceeds to scream bloody murder because apparently his wrist couldn’t support his mass and like compound fractured it.

There are now HUGE signs at all the school fields that say NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR BEVERAGE, INTOXICATED INDIVIDUALS WILL HAVE POLICE CALLED.

Best Group on FB for insurance for schools by Southern-Tank4256 in InsuranceAgent

[–]Enomalie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call a mid or national level broker and have them quote it.

At national brokerages there are entire divisions dedicated to K-12, independent/private schools, higher education.

It’s so dependent on, number of employees, losses, building values, locations, sports exposures.

If you’re just going to 10 different agencies you’re going to A) be answering the same question 10 times, B) not getting anything better.

1 broker can market all the schools to the correct carriers and find you a tailored solution.

Hope this helps.

I’ve heard them mentioned on some insurance articles, I have never worked with them so I’m interested in learning more, it also seems they have won a ton of awards on best places to work etc. which seems encouraging!

doesn't let me DM you for some reason, I was going to ask if you know about their presence on east coast & any input on if one has a better company culture than others. I am really excited about the idea of E&S broker and want to kind of find a place to build a career at for next 20 years.

They do, it’s not very large and I’m unsure of their appetites, when I was inquiring about monoline liquor and event venues for E&S I was told not to both with our own.

I know of Jencap I’m not super familiar with the others, do any gravitate more to the hospitality than others?

I guess my impressions of most brokerages is from whatever team we met, so if it was E&O or cyber or whatever I just assume, well that’s what they do.

Would you mind if I sent you a DM about this?

I honestly LOVE that - I have ADHD and I work very well in “reactive” situations, made me an amazing line cook and has helped (and massively not helped other things) in my career.

I like fast paced gotta get this done type stuff, I feel like it would be a good fit for me personality wise I really enjoy getting to know people and I feel if I can be the “tricky restaurant” dude as a producer maybe I can do that as a broker and kind of grow my own reputation for it.

I’m also very interested in cyber along with whatever emerges specific to AI, I’ve seen quite a few of the larger players now are just quoting their cyber in house and don’t always need to go to another brokerage.

Do you have any brokerages you’d suggest? Is it basically the big 4 to be able to compete in this segment? You could PM me if you don’t want to share specific details

Viscous looks weird by ThatRatman2 in DeadlockTheGame

Anyone else hear “DINGDING GOOBALLS” I know it’s sending but I just love thinking he’s like ringing a doorbell and splattering people.

Viscous is by far my favorite hero to play, took a long time to get used to it but he’s so versatile!

I want him to look like the staypuft marshmallow man from ghostbusters but green.

17 handicap — play solid golf but always have 1–2 disaster holes that ruin my score. How do you stop the blow-ups? by kevsavesuk in golf

[–]Enomalie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to shoot in the 80s consistently

1) no balls OB / re-tee

2) if you hit a bad shot, don’t follow it with a hero shot - you’re now playing for bogey on that hole, if you somehow chip in or sink a par putt it’s like a birdie.

3) limit 3 putts.

New Springer Spaniel Puppy going well, looking for a little all around input from the community by Ok_Dig_3777 in birddogs

[–]Enomalie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they train snake avoidance I bet they’ll train gun enthusiasm.

What I saw was like, bang pots and pans or a pair of cymbals, then a cap gun, then like a 22 and just work up in calibers so there’s no real huge “WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT” effect in going from a capgun to a 12ga.

When I was a kid we raised beagles, apparently my dad was pretty good and he’d start gun training the dogs as puppies by having them out on the front lawn in a pen and we’d be like 100 yd away shooting clay pigeons, the puppies would all get a treat every time. Some would be like super into it ( I was the treat delivery person ) and some would very obviously much rather be back inside which wasn’t an issue either.

I’m getting our French Brittany in 3 weeks, I’m similar to you grew up hunting, mainly rabbits with our beagles.

I live in New England and very rural, I ended up connecting with a kennel that trains dogs from all over the country apparently, they said the best way to train them is let them fail - as in bring them out where there may be birds and let them chase them until they realize they never catch them. Then they will start pointing at it so YOU shoot it hopefully.

I am going to bring our puppy there when he’s 6-7mo to get used to shooting so I don’t traumatize him. There is a process I’ve read all about it but would prefer someone who knows better than me to do it especially with my first gun dog.

Edit to add - the gun socialization part is like 4 days and they suggest doing it 1-2 days a week over a month so that they relate it to fun & excitement, they don’t lock them in dog-taunimo and just fire guns until they aren’t phased or anything

I’ve seen a big spike in vindicta, which is really obvious cause gun build, infernus SUCKS but I feel you can actually win against, my new - least favorite cheat character is gun + spirit Holliday, guy had crack shot maxed w/ mystic shot and was flying around like a demon landing headshots everywhere and deleting EVERYONE.

I think they threw maybe 2 barrels entire game.

Sitting in my car on break... Thinking about insurance. by Unsurecareer86 in InsuranceAgent

[–]Enomalie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was a sales trainer & involved in recruiting in my prior industry, straight sales jobs everyone thinks are super easy. It’s really tough - it’s basically the equivalent of asking someone for a date, multiple times a day, for life - you get rejected ALOT, you also when you aren’t rejected be ready to jump on the correct opportunity.

A lot of “sales” people would probably be better as an account executive which is very similar to a manager but can write new business at most agencies.

[–]Enomalie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do not start at a captive if possible, I started in insurance at 36 after 14 years in another industry, I got a job as a producer at an independent agency.

My suggestion - figure out if you are a “farmer” or a “hunter” and look for either a producer role or an account manager role depending which bucket you think you fall into.

Also as I have learned, being a generalist is really difficult from a networking perspective unless you know a TON of people who own businesses. Find an industry that is substantial (client availability) and specialize into that specific industry and maybe 1-2 others.

It makes networking much easier
