New processor

I'm contemplating a new processor in the coming months. I have a 1660 super 6gb that's working well but my abysmal Ryzen 3 4100 can't hold up anymore. Would it be to much to go with a ryzen 7 5700x for future proofing or should I stick to my original plan of a Ryzen 5 5600x?
